Another kitchen update today?! And we are talking about kitchen light fixtures! This one is a little interesting because we are in the middle of doing something, but I wanted to share our progress with you. You see we have wanted to add lights to the top of our kitchen window since before we even started the kitchen remodel. Well, it’s that time. A while back I threw up an architectural piece above the sink & I didn’t say anything, but of course you guys noticed because you are amazing & I said we were waiting to try something out with it & I’m here today to reveal it to you…
Lights!! You see we found this architectural piece a while back & right away I wanted to hang it above the sink & then I came up with the idea to put some wall mounted sconces on it to try something new. All we did was mounted the lights onto the architectural pice & they are wired into the ceiling & a light switch.. that’s the long way of saying that they are hard wired. I got the lights from wayfair [HERE] & they are very similar to the ones in our dining room [HERE]. I’m obsessed with these wall sconces & they are my favorites we have ever had & now I love them even more now that they are adding gorgeous light to our kitchen. The only other lights in the kitchen before these were the antique barn lights that offer pretty good help, but more light was needed to make the kitchen more functional and feel more complete. The “testing part” Sometimes as a renovator & someone who likes to to constantly decorate, re-decorate, & style… I wanted to try the lights on the wall & on the architectural piece to see what it would look like. I love the chippy detail the architectural piece adds to the kitchen & how unique it makes the space. I also love that it draws your eye up past the window. & now that I got rid of the chippy corbels, it still adds the chippy detail to the space that I love. One more thing I love? The lights are mounted on to the architectural piece & so there are very minimal holes in the wall if we ever decided to try something different. The best parts about the lights is that they are adjustable for lighting options, dimmable which is a huge bonus, & I love the antique vibe that they have. So, will the architectural piece stay? I don’t know yet… will the lights stay? I hope so because I love them!
So, for the kitchen update today… we have new lights! That’s quite exciting because it’s just one more step in completing our kitchen. We still need to replace the stove, figure out the area by the fridge, touch up the paint, decide on the final lighting, & some other details, but you guys… we have a working kitchen that is getting prettier by the day & I couldn’t be happier with that. I’ll do a kitchen video tour soon because I know a lot of you have been asking for a full view & this space can get super confusing with the layout with the sunroom, breakfast nook, grill area, & all of that. So, today this was all just about the lights & I would LOVE to hear what you think! Let me know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today & everyday to see what we are up to! It means the world to me! xx

In one pic there is a metal frame that the lights are attached to. What happened to it? Was it original to the lights? We’re there more tan 3 lights? Thanks.

The style is really marvellous, it is called a perfect lifestyle. I am really feeling inspired, I will try to make the same in my house.
Thanks for sharing this post.
I LOVE the lights! They’re gorgeous and the contrast in the white room is so pretty. I can only imagine the brightness and the ambiance they provide while working in the kitchen. Love them!!

Liz and Jose,
You never cease to impress and I wish I had 1/4 of your energy!!! Your kitchen and your home is beautiful, comfortable, inviting and inspiring. Thanks for taking us along this renovation journey.
Love the fridge. I’ve been eyeing the Smeg twanged. What do you think of them?
I was thinking the same thing, but I actually think it’s the angle that the picture was taken ! In the picture they all just seem to join up to make it look like there’s a frame ☺️
Looking at that beautiful kitchen lines in the warm feeling of it, I wondered why they were splashes of dirt or whatever above the sink. Looking at it closer, it’s that weird weathered look that has really no place in that beautiful kitchen. And that little dented metal thing is awful. It’s a good kitchen gone bad.
Hi Liz! You have a little concrete (?) stand by your sink with your soap and brush sitting on it. I have been looking for a stand that size forever!! I have a small one, but yours is larger. May I ask where you got it? Hopefully it is from somewhere that I can order one too!
Your kitchen is just beautiful!!

Hey Liz, I love the new lighting. And you already know How much I love that architectural piece over the window. Would you talk about where to find those architectural pieces that you have in your home? Thank you and give Winnie some love from Nashville.
I can’t say enough on how much I love everything that you do absolutely darling I love the lights
Everything is coming together so beautifully.
You’re so creative! Who would have thought to mount those above a kitchen window? And they look fantastic ???
Thank you Patti… We are super happy with them right now, and the light it kicks out on the sink in the evening is so very welcoming. Thank you for reading.
I stopped and looked at Jose the other night and said… this time last year we didn’t even have a kitchen!!! Thank you and yes we are so happy to start seeing a little bit of home under this remodel.
Thank you-thank you.. and we will pass the lovin’s on over to Winnie. We are very lucky here in Grand Rapids, to have some wonderful junk collectors and antique shops. That is where I get most of our finds…
Hi Liz! Would you mind sharing the color of white paint used for the shiplap? Your kitchen is amazing!
Wow Jana! Why are you here? Does posting mean comments make you feel better? My dear mama used to tell me “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”

Great post! I am actually getting ready to across this information, is very helpful info about interior design. Also great blog here with all of the valuable information you have. Keep up the good work you are doing here!
Jana, Yikes! Be nice! I’m pretty sure no one cares for your rude comments or opinions. That’s just mean and unnecessary and I hope you see how you make others feel. Sure, we’re all entitled to our own opinions but the way you chose to express yours is not appropriate. Next time, keep it to yourself if you can’t be polite. Ever heard of “constructive criticism”?
Love it all!!! You’re so lucky to have a handy Hubby. I’ll keep mine cause he’s a heck of cook….lol.
What is the color name of your quartz counter tops?
I do hope you keep the architectural piece, it brings the perfect chippy warmth to that lovely space. It fits so perfectly!
