When we moved to the farm… Jose and I both had the same dream. Summer time dinners on the porch! We love this porch so much, and as yo saw in my last post, Farmhouse Style Porch Swings, you know its starting to wear from the weather and we will be doing a little repair and remodel on it soon, but right now we are in the dreaming phase. Nonetheless, we love this porch… a little fun fact: Before we could close on the house, we had to do some repairs per the inspection, repairs we were capable of doing and wanted to do ourselves. While working through an afternoon one day, at our soon to be dream come true, we took a break for a little meal. Our first official meal here at the Farm was on the side porch steps, eating a Panera Bread salad (Green Goddess). It doesn’t sound like much, and really outside a to go box, and some a 20 oz soda, it wasn’t much… but it was everything to us. That moment meant so much to us then, and means so much to us now. We sat right here on these porch steps looking out at the farm & just dreamed of finally living here… & here we are now…
Only a few days shy of our anniversary from buying our farm, we find so much joy in setting up our porch for summer meals and rainstorm watching. For this summer, we were so excited to work with Target and use the new Hearth & Hand spring line for our tables-cape this year. To make it extra special we picked flowers and stems from around the farm and placed them in the clear vases that are also from the hearth & hand line at Target.
After we recently remodeled the kitchen, we realized the entire mix-match collection of pots, pans, plates and bowls… Stuff we have added over our entire marriage from North Carolina to the journey back to Michigan. It was time to do away with the much too old and start adding in more classic and timeless pieces. I really like stoneware, porcelain, and enamel mixture of materials used from the new Hearth & Hand… The stoneware berry basket is the perfect example of the direction we are going. I love the idea of having this collection for all of our outdoor meals & parties. From the picnic basket to all of the enamel dishes. It’s the perfect outdoor collection. For the tablecloth on the table we used the picnic blanket from the collection & it works perfectly for an outdoor place setting like this…
The cooler was Jose’s favorite item from the line. It rests on legs and castors… but can easily be dismantled and used as a traditional cooler. The wire baskets are a fun way to incorporate that southern bbq feeling. The cooler, the croquet set, & the drink dispenser are probably the funnest things from the line & Chip & Jo hit the nail on the head with them!
I hope you guys loved seeing this little BBQ dinner on our side porch today & I hope it inspires you for all of your memorial day activities this weekend while we honor the ones who gave it all on this memorial day weekend with our friends & family.
