I LOVE this time of year… fall you ask? No, pumpkins on the porch steps season!!! For those that have been with us since we lived in this farmhouse of ours know that every year I like to decorate these farmhouse porch steps of ours. Every year I say that we are re-doing this porch of ours, painting the porch, & so much more… but you know what? We have so many projects going on that the porch has definitely taken the back burner… BUT GUESS WHAT? The new front doors are in!!! They are in.. but they are not finished so more on that later, but our fall steps are looking really different this year without that old black door we had! I wanted to more light in the house so these french doors were the answer to all our dreamy light prayers. There are three french “front doors” on the front of the house, but again… more of that later. Let’s get to these fall steps. I just started collecting fall foliage and pumpkins, but plan to get more later from our garden & of course I’ll do more to the steps and share that with you later, but today I gathered them on the steps and did a little photoshoot to show you what our fall steps on the house look like today. Simple & I feel like it says “Please hurry up fall weather… we are so ready for you!” What do you think…
For this start of the fall pumpkin porch steps I just used pumpkins found in our garden and other local farms around us. I mixed in some local mums in the vibrant colors of fall & some yummy looking green kale & that’s it. I usually use pots and other rustic items found around our farm, but for this look I went simple and raw with just the pumpkins and the mums & other fall foliage. I layered each step with various colors of pumpkins & foliage with really no rhyme or reason. Some may go in with a plan, but I rarely ever do.. I love the free range look of it all especially at our little farm. Of course I wanted to spice it up a little so I hung a pumpkin chalkboard above the porch steps as well… Just a fun little touch to welcome everyone on to our fall porch. Since our porch is undone with the construction of these doors going on right now we kept it simple everywhere, but just welcoming enough so that even though the house is under construction people still know they are welcome…
This year I chose to do my usual pumpkins with the light blue & whites, but I really wanted the bright oranges to really pop so I grabbed the coolest deep orange pumpkins from a local farm stand… I’m hoping to get more of these from our garden soon as well. My pumpkins needs to hurry up and ripen! Thankful to live in a flourish farm community with far better gardens than my own haha.
There is something about fall that brings me all the feels.. fall feels I guess you would call it. But there is something even more about fall steps that that give me even more fall feels! Your porch steps are gorgeous…..love the doors 🙂 fall is special to us here in upstate ny as well :). THe 29th of this month we will be married 28 yrs and since we had a beautiful outdoor fall wedding a long time ago that is the first thing that comes to mind every sept. Anyway love how you mixed in the kale 🙂 I look forward to your posts everyday. Take care!!
That is one MASSIVE PRODUCTION. WOW. What happens to all the pumpkins after the season is over?
Your porch is just gorgeous! I can honestly say that I can live there. Wonderful job!
I love how you go all-out! You don’t get home and think “I should have got more pumpkins” like I often do! Love the lettuce mixed in!
Great Question! They get broken up. A majority are snacks for the sheep and our Guniea Hens. We also smash some up in a little hill we have on the side of the barn. The seeds will grow new ones next year.
First time visitor. Looks beautiful, I love Autumn so much! How do you get the pumpkins to stay stacked on top of each other. I can never get three to do it?
So happy to hear they don’t go to waste ? I just adore you two, and all your fur babies ❤️ And thoroughly enjoying your vlogs on YouTube ?
BEAUTIFUL! I’m local to you and have been searching for great local farm stands. Any ones you guys love?
I’m curious is the kale in pots? I want kale now. ? Your porch is absolutely gorgeous!
Yes, I am wondering how to do the kale as well??? Did she buy it from a garden center?
