A while back I shared on the blog that we are turning what was our formal dining room into our home office. Since then I haven’t updated you, but you guys all have way more important things going on & are super busy… so I’m sure you weren’t sitting on the edge of your seat, BUT I wanted to give you a tiny update today about the office today & give you a little sneak peek of the direction that we are taking in the room…
So much to do in this space still! Like filling holes, painting touch-ups, & fun things like hardware for the cabinets, but it looks a lot different than the last time I showed you this space! So last time I updated you the built-ins had just been built & they are still looking amazing because our builder is the best of the best. I made a little progress on styling them & the room is finally turning into a space that we can work in efficiently & yet fits our design aesthetic because it’s one of the main rooms we pass through in our home to travel from room to room. It’s also one of the first rooms you see when you come through the front door.Making it functional and beautiful has proven to be a challenge, but after using it for a while we have figured out how to make that happen. I said it on my stories the other day, but the vibe we are going for in this space is like a military office.. more masculine with 1800’s farmhouse vibes. I tend to make a story up for every room design we do & this one is a special one for us because of Jose’s time he spent in the military. I was going for a lieutenant’s office vibe & I think we are heading in the right direction. I used a lot of my antique collections on the shelves, but also some great storage for our office-y things. Today I just took some cell phone shots of the space to show you the progress of the space and direction we are going in here because it’s far from done. We have some exciting things still going in the space like a bookshelf ladder, cabinet hardware, & some other finishing touches like painting the laundry room door that breaks up the bookshelves.
I keep showing this space in my instagram stories & also in some instagram photos so I figured it was about time to do an update. A lot of you had been asking to see more & I promise I will be back with a bigger update soon. I CAN’T WAIT to show you the before and after of the space very soon & also the evolution of the space because it started out as our dining room & has changed a whole lot since then.
Liz, I literally gasped when I saw the office! It’s a very impressive area. Won’t you two love working in there?
So impressive how you made this space come alive with vintage items that most people wouldn’t even think of using. I love your use of the cast iron furniture legs, the shoe moulds, vintage clocks, the old leather bags and what looks to me like skeins of either butcher string or cochet yarn.Just perfect how you’ve arranged them on the shelves as their own individual collections! I have collection of old clocks like yours and my hubby is going to build a cubby out of barnwood to display in our kitchen. Your inspirations are much appreciated Liz so keep them comin’! ?
absolutely adorable!
Such a gorgeous space Liz! Perfect for you and Jose. xo
Do you have your dining table set up in the old sunroom now?
Such a beautiful job in that space ,but everything you do is always so gorgeous
It is stunning!
Beautiful as always! I so see the quiet military vibe. I kind of see it as a lieutenant has come back from war to his home and isn’t quite ready to give up his military position that he had to leave because he was badly injured. Now he is running the huge family farm from this space. Love it! Love the story you’ve created for the gathering of things that help to tell the story of your vision. ❤?
AMAZING!
So pretty…you need a vintage typewriter unless I missed it…so cozy to work in.
Simply stunning and cozy! Love your collection of oddities! A girl after my own heart! You styled this room in such an elegant, yet humble way. It perfectly reflects who you are! Love it!
This is one of my favourite designs of yours yet! LOVE it ?
I love it! Great collection wind up clocks! Everything looks and fits well in this space. Cant wait to see the before and after!
Wow! This room! Those shelves! Your creative talent! Thank you for sharing all of it.
It’s gorgeous per usual 🙂
