Something about our master bedroom that was a love/not so much love relationship when we moved in to this farmhouse. It may seem weird, but it was the fact that our master bedroom was so massive, but I didn’t want to fill the room up with furniture so I struggled with making it cozy without making it cluttered. I think I’m finding the sweet spot between cozy and cluttered… that perfect oasis that we desire to come to every night to unwind and rest up. I’m not complaining about this large oasis of ours, but I’m really excited that we have finally started to work with the space we have and utilize it to our needs and wants. I wanted to share with you a little glimpse at our cozy sitting area in our master bedroom today now that we added a new rug this weekend…

The new rug is from Pottery Barn [HERE] & I’ve had my eye on it for a while now & decided to snatch it up when it went on sale for $199… yes please!! It came in the mail this weekend & I was instantly even more in love with it when I got it in & felt how cozy it was beneath my feet. I will say the only thing that caught me off guard about the rug is that the background was a little more “tan” than “cream” than I had thought it would be. But after getting over that initial shock I realized how nice that will actually be with the traffic in this space and all the dogs that sleep in this space… so that ultimately turned out to be a good thing. This rug really grounds this sitting room & defines this extra little space that we have now added to this room.

All the other pieces in this tiny space are antique pieces except for those anthropologie curtains [HERE]. I’ve also been obsessing over these curtains lately because of the lovely embroidered detail on them. The curtains ended up being way prettier in person than online when I ordered them. You know I will be back ASAP to show you how we built that fireplace in this cozy sitting area, but I wanted to show you the progress in here because this has been our cozy hideaway this winter & I felt like I was keeping a big secret from you so here we are on this negative temperature day in Michigan & it felt like the right time to share it with you! I hope this little spot in our master bedroom inspires you in some way today… THANK YOU for stopping by the blog!! xx
When you first posted a photo of that black chest, I about fell over. I love it so much — no words — one of those pieces I would never have passed up! Your bedroom is beautiful!
Would you mind sharing where you purchased your curtain rods (of all things)!
Thank you!

So pretty! Rug looks great but the whole area is just so perfect! Love every little minute of it!????. We here in wisconsin are having a blizzard today! Wish I had that spot to cozy up in. Thanks for sharing.
I love it! The furniture literally looks like it was built specifically for that spot. Makes me want a fireplace somewhere in my home now!
Lovely! I’m very interested in your furniture. Did you remove the upholstery for the deconstructed look yourself or purchase it that way? Having a massive master bedroom would be a sweet problem to have! A warm cozy spot for these cold winter days is definitely the solution!
Looks so comfy and warm!! Love the furniture with the fireplace. It will be a great place to relax at the end of the day.
Liz, That entire space is so very comfy- cozy and beautiful!! Love the rug, and I like the contrast of it being a deeper tone than the pretty white floors. It seems to set the rug off even more. As an antique lover, I just fell in love with your beautiful high-boy, gorgeous piece! I was curious too, about your deconstructed pieces. I have an ottoman I wanted to start with, and thought it is so attractive with the ticking lining the inside.
It’ All so tastefully put together!! ❤️❤️❤️
It looks wonderful! Oh so cozy ?. Now that you have this sitting AND that beautiful fireplace I don’t know how you would leave that room. It’s perfection Liz! Thanks for sharing as always…I’m always inspired by your style ?
Love the rug…Pottery Barn calls it Blue Multi…looks gray/black…was there more than one color?
Who on earth cleans all that white stuff you got going on !!
Love the rug. Beautiful room. Is your rug blue multi?Picture looks more gray and black.
The perfect cozy spot for snow days and below zero days during the winter! Love it and the rug also!
Love the rug really makes a statement and brings in the cozy, with help from the pillows.
Absolutely gorgeous! Love everything about it! Pinned! I can’t wait to hear about your diy fireplace ❤️
So gorgeous!! We also have enough room in our master for a sitting area and I plan to do a nice cozy one when we start decorating in there!
Just beautiful, Liz! I especially love the pillow with the message on it “He said there are always flowers……”. May I asked where you purchased it?
Oh my goodness…I just love your furniture so much…actually the whole room is beautiful!!! Looks so classy and comfy. I can’t wait to hear about the fireplace.
I love the deconstructed pieces, too. (And everything else, of course!) The couch may have come from here?

Liz! This tuned out so cozy. Love it. That black dresser / chest is amazing. Makes me want to see if we could create a cozy space like this in our room with the real estate that we have….
Oh Liz Marie, I am Loving that rug!!! And all those antique pieces you’ve got squirreled away in your bedroom?! To die for!! I’d Never leave my bedroom if mine looked like that! I love your taste. Right up my alley! And a fireplace to boot? C’mon! You’re killing me! My bedroom is a total disaster right now. . You’ve given me hope though! Thanks for sharing your private digs with us. It truly is beautiful.

It is soooooo cozy! It turned out perfectly with just the right amount of “stuff”. Love it!
Why must you use your LMB presets on all your photos?
The pattern of the Emilie rug is definitely not black and grey on a cream/tan background… the pattern is actually a blue-grey.
I understand that the use of presets saves a ton of time & effort, but applying those presets constantly makes your photos appear the same and they’re becoming more meh than anything else.
LOVE your new rug!!!!! It’s absolutely perfect for that area. I envy you having that nice relaxing space in your master bedroom. It’s so dreamy!!!
What a deep breath this space is! May I ask what the piece above the fireplace reads? I can’t quite make it all out. Thanks! ?
What are presets? By the way, I have never seen Liz Marie respond to any of the questions in comments.
