Ok, I keep calling myself a crazy plant lady and a plant mom. I’m both of those things, but I am for sure not a perfect plant mom… let’s get that right out of the way. I’m not a perfect plant mom, but I’m for sure a loving one because my plants bring a lot of joy to our home & to me. I have to admit the first month of our babies life I let a lot of my plants go, but I’m back in a routine & over that mom guilt I was feeling when I noticed all my plants looking a little sad. I wanted to share some quick happy houseplant tips with you guys today so that you can have less plant mom guilt like I have been having. Keep in mind I’m not an expert, but this is how I keep my topiaries happy & what works for me every single time…

- Sunlight: A mix of direct & indirect works best for me. I quickly know if the certain houseplant is happy with a ton of direct sunlight or more indirect sunlight by the way the plant is looking. I have to say that most of my topiaries are happy with any amount of sun.. it’s not an exact science, but as long as you have a little sunlight you are good. Some of my plants are in front of windows in the kitchen & some are in indirect & they are happy as well.
- Water: I like to use the rule of keeping the soil damp [not soaking wet with any standing water, but just damp.] I can tell when I look at the soil now when it’s damp as opposed to dry. My schedule for watering right now is every three days & I walk the house to water all the plants on that day. This schedule has been really keeping my plants happy so I’m sticking with it! QUICK TIP: If a certain day of the week works best for you stick to watering on that day of the week to keep you on track.
- Keep them tidy: I actually love when my topiaries get a little unruly and a little messy, but mine do best when I keep them trim & shaped. I don’t have a schedule for clipping my topiaries, but when I notice one getting a little crazy I take a scissors to the plant & clean it up a little to keep my plants happy.
- Feed them: Just to keep on top of the health of all my indoor plants I like to use fertilizer spikes to feed the plants like [THESE] because they are easy to use & you can just put them in the soil and forget about them.

All plants are truly different & I really start to learn what each individual plant likes as there are so many variables to what plant you have, the atmosphere of your home, the climate you live in, the amount of light in your home, & so much more. I shared [THIS POST] & [THIS POST] a while back with more tips as well so you can check that one out as well. These are just a few quick tips to keep your houseplants happy in your home. I hope these simple tips help.. be sure to tag me in all your happy houseplant photos & as always THANK YOU for stopping by the blog today & every single day to see what we are up to. xx
