There are a lot of days I realize that I’m not normal. Probably once a day I’m reminded of a little quirk of mine or something that makes me different. Don’t get me wrong… this isn’t a bad thing at all, but it is really interesting to realize these things. This past weekend I had one of those moments when I went shopping with some girlfriends of mine. We went to one of my favorite local clothing shops, JB & Me. We all went looking for some new clothing & maybe some accessories… & what do I find instead? A vintage chair. Yup, they don’t even sell antiques, but they happened to be selling one of their displays in the shop & it happened to be half off that day…

It just so happened that I was looking for a low small chair for our sunroom. You may know this chair that we have int he sunroom…

I wanted another one for the other side of the sofa & when I saw this chair it was “the one” it had a low profile, character, charm, & last but not least… it was cozy!

When people ask what my style is I always say cozy cottage farmhouse by mixing the old with the new & I think that’s exactly what this sunroom is turning into. an eclectic mix of patterns, textures, & styles that come together & make one cozy space. This chair is just one little addition to it. I hope this post shows that you can find the most perfect pieces in the most unexpected places. Local boutiques, flea markets, antique shops, estate sales, & even stores that are selling their displays. It’s not always at Target, despite what we all believe. Speaking of Target though, I’m giving away $1,000 dollars to Target right now on my Instagram [HERE]… Head on over to enter! What do you think of our new little vintage piece? Come see more behind the scenes of it on Instagram [HERE] & tell me where was the most unexpected place you have found home decor… THANK YOU for stopping by the blog today & every single day to see what we are up to!

Love it! Love it! Love it! Some of my favorite finds are the pieces I’ve found on the curb. I’m looking for a cozy chair for the reading/relaxing corner of my master bedroom (which is in the middle of a makeover).
Oh my, what a cozy find. Its so fun to me to find unique pieces in unique places like that. I love the character of it as well. 🙂 My favorite is when pieces find me like this one found you.
Hi Liz!
I love the new chair! I also LOVE the one you’re sitting in in your profile pic- I’ve looked everywhere for a similar fabric. Please tell me you reupholstered that and can give me a heads up where to find it?? 🙂
That chair is amazing! As much as I loved the sun room when you were using it as a dining room – I REALLY love it as an actual sitting area. It’s such a cozy spot. Great job!!
What an amazing find! It has SO much character, I love it! My hubby always teases me that I can find a ‘gem’ in the most unexpected places, too! It keeps life fun! 🙂
Love it and that style can be placed anywhere.
Love JB & Me and the chair! Good find! Quick question. Did I see something in one of your posts that says you are using a Peleton? How do you like it. I’m thinking of getting one …especially since it is a long, long, winter here in OH and rainy in the spring ..so it’s hard to get outside on a good day. What say you?
I love when you use this room as a sitting room. It’s so cozy and convenient to the kitchen. I love the chair. It’s almost a perfect match to the other one.
To me, it looks like they took a bedspread and reupholstered the seat and a striped sheet for the the back of the chair..lol…no matter what, it seems to work…
Hi! you didn’t mention where the cute bag that’s hanging on door is from… Super cute chair!!!!
Such a great find and it appears to have a very similar or same striped fabric as the other chair in the sunroom. Love it! Some of my personal favorites in our home decor, are additions that were unexpected finds and at bargain prices. One that stands out is an all leather club chair with nail studs found at Marshall’s for $150. I happened to be shopping for bath towels and saw them rolling it out from the stock room. I made a dash to check the price and had to ask the employee if the price was correct, as it was attached to the “genuine leather” tag. Still pinching myself.
I LOVE that chair! Sometimes I think the “ethers” are guiding us unexpected that are made just for us. At 65, on disability & being “owned” by a 100+ y/o house, I rely on these miracle finds. One of mine was a similar chair, I found for $10 on the last day of a yard sale. It needs reupholstering & I’ve been having trouble finding the “right” fabric–my first choice was discontinued & I haven’t been able to find a sufficient quantity to do the whole chair. This mixed fabric example is a way I can use that gorgeous fabric creatively and will fit right into my “boho meets 19th century” decor, or as my daughter calls it- “aging hippie with antiques”. Thank you for the inspiration!
If that makes you “not normal”, I must be “not normal” too LOL! This is just like something I would do. Love it!
Love it! And those unusual sales are always the best!
