I preach a lot about being content in the world of social media. I say things like “Be yourself” “don’t worry what others are doing on instagram” & so on.. well, I have to admit that I fall victim to the comparison game quite often. Like, a lot. I look at others who built a beautiful custom home & I get a little jealous and have a moment of regret like maybe we should have done that and then we wouldn’t always be living in construction. Then I quickly remember that we did that… & it wasn’t for me. I love the adventure of a fixer-upper & in those moments I need to check myself & preach to myself that we all have different journeys & this fixer-upper farmhouse of ours was something that I’m so thankful for. So what do I do when those moments happen? Do something fun! We have big plans to put doors on either side of our fireplace someday, but we just aren’t quite ready for that big project yet because it’s one of those unpredictable ones. The ones where there is a lot of steps & unknown things are bound to come up when you dig into your walls. So, in the mean time I wanted to make the space where the doors are going to be pretty…

Ok, so it’s far from being done, but if you remember this space looked like this a short while ago…

We wanted to give either side of the fireplace a makeover so we I ordered some wallpaper from Wall Paper Direct & Jose hung it like a pro! It’s even the real deal wallpaper so I was extra proud. In these photos I have wall sconces hanging in the middle, but they won’t be there I was just testing some things out in the spot. We ripped out the bookcases that were on either side of the fireplace & Jose put shiplap under the wallpaper section as well. I wanted to bring some pretty interest to this back wall as it can sometimes get lost in the mix. I found this gorgeous wallpaper months ago & fell in love but didn’t have a spot for it. It’s a little much for our house in an entire room so we decided to put it in these pre-trimmed area and it worked out perfect!

I’m still deciding what to put in these spaces below in the mean time, but more on that later! We still have to paint the shiplap, replair the floor, style the wallpapered walls, & more… I’ll be back with an update very soon! This post is to show you progress and that not every space has to be finished to bring you joy. Sometimes we are too curated and only showing the finished spaces, but a lot of them look like this… I even shoved the tools behind that chair just so you know. I just wanted to share the fun new addition in the mean time. Thank you guys SO MUCH for stopping by the blog today! xx
I love it! It’s amazing what a little touch of wallpaper can do for a room. I have done similar things. Great idea!
Wow girl. It adds such character and warmth to the space. I love how cozy it is and that mug????.
Loving it so far!! ?? Did you make those sconces plug in!? I need 2 plug in sconces for around my fireplace. Looks beautiful!!❤️
If helps, I’m jealous of your house. And live in a cute 1914 brick tutor.
I absolutely love it! This just goes to show you that a little pattern CAN go a long way – and it’s such a fun spin on the tired old “accent wall”.
I love the idea of having the very patterned wallpaper as a feature, like a piece of art. Perfect idea!
I love wallpaper! I am in the process of trying to make a small laundry room live a little bigger! I have removed a wall hung cabinet. Taken down rows of pegs the previous owner had installed. Changed solid outside door for a full pane French door.
And removed the door into the kitchen. I ‘ve always liked unexpected wallpaper in laundry rooms. No sox on clothes lines or washing machines for me. Pretty paper, chandeliers, and pretty window treatments. That’s what I like. Your paper would make a sometimes not so fun chore easier just by making the room a happy one. But going thru tons of books is not the fun it use to be. I will cross my fingers and check out the source that you have given. Love your house. That is something that I have always wanted to do (and I have on much smaller houses) But at the age of 70, I’m afraid for a arge scale reno , that ship has sailed!
Great idea! Love the way it looks like a piece of art! The best part of owning a fixer upper is that there is always something to do. You will never grow bored! Love it!
Even though I’m older than you (by more than a few years!) I still want to be you when I grow up. Your talent knows no boundaries! Blessings to your precious family.
I love wallpaper too. I think every house should have it somewhere! I know you get told this a lot but you are living my life??❤️
hi ,,, ive never left comments before….I do love your blog! but everytime I look at it the images are so large!!!! I can see it at a good picture….so big,,,just wondering if its my computer or the image is on a different font??? but love all your news and your home….thanks so much
So pretty!
I love this wallpaper and the way you used it. I have always wanted a big two story house that i could fix up but at my age that isn’t going to happen, so you are doing it for me and i love all you do. Thank you so much and God bless you.
It’s lovely! I’m with you Sister: a little pattern in a sea of calm.
Liz I think we all look at others pictures and at times we have that shade of green that we don’t like. But then when we do something like you guys have done we’re just as happy as clams. Lol…… Hideing Jose’ tools behind the chair I find quite funny! Something I would have done…… I love the wallpaper…. Soooo pretty. ??????
Is that a William Morris paper or a copy?
Love the peach hue and the organic vibe…just a little was enough!
Love the wallpaper. Can i ask a question? What paint do you use for your walls?
Thanks
