I wanted to bring you guys into this corner of my office today! You all know how much I love my collections & this corner hosts a few of my favorite collections. My number one tip for displaying collections is to keep them monochromatic. We kept this corner monochromatic with different shades of black, gray, and white. Sticking to the monochromatic style makes the display feel less busy and allows you to display a lot more items.

In this corner of my office, I’ve displayed some of my favorite collections – antique silhouettes, black & white photos, and my button collection. Sometimes my collections can get a little out of control … Can you relate? My tip is to stick to one color palette within your collections. If you collect only items that are the same color you can wean down your collection & it’s easier to say no to pieces that don’t fit your color scheme … It may help stop your collection from getting out of control … but only if you want to! How to apply this to your home: if you have some collections, styling like colors together can really make the display seem less cluttered and more easy on the eyes. Have a huge collection of brass items? Style them together! Have a collection of green books? Blue pottery? Try grouping them together and notice how well they play off each other.

I love how nostalgic these antique silhouettes are, they feel like a family photo but a little less personal. I love playing off of these silhouettes with old black and white photos, it just feels so cozy to me. My button collection is seriously massive & maybe a little out of control but it is one of my favorite collections I have. I know I’ve mentioned this before, but my grandma had button collection, and seeing them in mason jars just flashes me back to when I was little staying the night at her house. I know everyone’s collections are different and everyone has different pieces but I hope this can get you inspired of how to display your collections in your own home. I challenge you to do a little monochromatic arranging in your home today on your mantle, book shelves, sofa tables, & other places your display your collections… have fun & be sure to share with me if you take the challenge! Thank you for stopping by the blog today and every other day Xx Liz Marie
I love a good monochromatic color scheme, it feels cozy to me no matter what colors are used. I do love cozy vibes. I also love how you have varying textures and things that create the illusion of movement. It makes the collection that much more visually appealing:). you have me on the hunt for vintage silhouettes too.
And that cozy chair..so much to love
Love this! And that chair!! You have me looking at old pictures in a whole new way. Love the light on top too….is it a piano light without it’s shade? I think I need one of those too!!
I love collecting globes, tartan picnicware and white pottery! Love these tips, thank you for sharing!
This is such a great idea! I love how it all came together for you! I am going to try it, I think it will help me to see what I am collecting as I look around my house as I have put stuff everywhere!! LOL!
I have a very big & out of control Elephant collection. They are on bookcases, in China hutches, just everywhere. I’ve tried telling others please no more but it doesn’t work lol.
thimbles! is that odd? after my grandmother died we were sorting through her things clearing out their house and she loved to sew so I took some things to keep in our home to remind me of her. I filled an apothecary jar full of old wooden spools of thread (not monochromatic though) and a jar of all her metal thimbles.
A vintage style with monochromatic color that looks remarkable artistic work.
