I’m so excited to share with you guys another look under our stairs! I want to keep experimenting with this space and have so many other ideas for ways to use this space. If you were to decorate the space under your stairs what would you do with it?? I knew I wanted to show you guys this October Sign in another spot in our home because I love it so much! I had styled this sign on our mantel [HERE] which was lovely, but now I can’t decide where I love it most… I’ve loved hearing from you guys how much you love Anne of Green Gables too! So many of you have sent me photos of signs you have with this quote on it. A few weeks ago I shared this cozy nook under our stairs with another fall look [HERE] this one is a whole different take on the space & I hope it inspires you to make your homes a little more cozy…

My idea for under here was to create a cozy fall reading nook. I wanted to create a little spot that I could sit and flip through some of my favorite books. Also, I can’t imagine a better spot to sit and read Cozy White Cottage, if you haven’t picked up your copy you can here. To cozy up this spot I layered a bunch of cozy pillows and throws on this antique farmhouse style bench! For a little fall touch I stapled these leaf stems to the wall around my October Sign. My friend Holli from Hollihocks also gave me the cutest pumpkin painting which I couldn’t resist putting in this little reading nook. If you are local there are a few of these pumpkin paintings at The Found Cottage still!

Also I have to take a minute to talk about this October sign … So many of you have asked for the details of this October Sign from OhSweetSkye so I thought I would share here. My sign is “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers – Anne of green gables.” I ordered the size: 38×32, words: white, background: olive, frame color: light stain, and add ons: white wash. My favorite part is that you can customize this to better fit in your home whether it’s the size or colors you want to change! P.S. I already have a few other signs I’m ordering from OhSweetSkye and I cannot wait to share them with you guys.

Doesn’t this make you wanna curl up and get cozy when you see this little nook? My goal is that everyone feels cozy and welcomed from the minute they enter our home and since this is at our entryway I wanted it to feel cozy right away! That’s all for now from this space under our stairs, what do you guys want me to try under here next? I’d love to hear your ideas! Thank you for visiting the blog today and everday. Xx Liz Marie

I could see this being a cozy little play area for Cope as he gets bigger…almost a little house under the stairs with a kitchen set, little table and chairs for arts and crafts and puzzles, dress up clothes, etc….his little fun Harry Potter spot under the stairs….
Beautiful as always!! I love the sign. I would love to know where you found the tall black candleholders!!! I am only finding.short ones or a set of small, medium, and large. Thanks!!!!
Love the style both ways and of course cozy. Have a safe trip.
Wow!! That’s gorgeous too!!! Definitely looks warm and cozy babe!! Loving every bit of your home!!
I love both looks!!! How can I choose??! I love “Oh Sweet Skye.” They have gorgeous signs!!! Also, where did you get those beautiful leaf stems from?
It’s stunning!! And so warm and cozy looking. Love the green chalkboard sign.
Dear Liz,
Love all of your great ideas! you have inspired me to do a lot of redecorating this year. I was wondering where you got your rug and the leaves in your nook under the stairs. You are very good and sharing sources for a lot of your items. It would be helpful if you could share all the items that you have used in your look, except antiques. Keep inspiring us with all of your wonderful decorating!
God Bless you and your family!
Kari, I was thinking the exact same thing! There is something about a little hidey hole type of space that children love. What a wonderful place to read, play or take a nap.
Hi Liz, I just wanted to let you know if I could imagine the perfect, cozy place to spend a chilly Autumn afternoon, wrapped in a beautiful shawl, drinking a delicious cup of coffee, just relaxing…this space would be “my perfect, cozy place”. Thanks for the delightful daydream.
That’s the first thing I thought of too. Perfect spot.I couldn’t have described it better.
Wow! I’m so smitten with this! Both are beautiful, but I like the sign under the stairs the best. I figured out one reason why this is so captivating is the color of orange that you used. We used to call it burnt orange- I don’t know what they’ve been calling it lately. I think I heard it called cinnamon but to me that would be darker brown. Anyway it’s just so gorgeous. Thank you for sharing it!
I love your nice cozy spot just for you, there’s always another space for Cope’s cars, trucks and tractors, oh yeah i can’t forget footballs, balls to kick, anyway balls. I had two sons the two grandsons and finally a granddaughter, so i know boys. It is nice for you to have a place all your own.
Gorgeous!! Love that bench and picture and everything, what a cozy place to spend time in!!!! The one thing that I am completely obsessed with is those branches!!!! I have searched everywhere for them and came up empty, I even thought about buying some that had really great stems, but not so great foliage, stripping off the foliage and making my own out of crinkled up butcher paper, maybe staining some and modge podgeing others, can you tell me where I can find them, I know you said you had them at your shop, but I live in southern cal. Found some similar at Micheal’s, but of course they are out of stock. Thank you for your blog, I love reading it and seeing all your creativity! And your book as well, it’s on my coffee table!
I love your reading nook and it’s even big enough for a nap. Did you make the mattress pad yourself.
I’ve read your new book, cover to cover. Love it. I now have it in my guest room for friends to browse and get inspired.
Thank you
Liz are those the limbs from Costco? you did!!! ☺️
