Happy October friends! Can you believe its already October?? Where has the time gone?! I am so excited to share this mantel with you now that October is finally here. It’s all based around a lovely October sign that I picked up from Oh Sweet Skye recently & I’m mildly obsessed with how it made this October mantel look.

Switching up parts of your mantel is a great way to change things up in your home. I wanted to show you guys that you don’t have to completely re-do your mantel to create a new look. You can have parts of your mantel that are staples and switch out other elements for the seasons. In a mantel, you always want to create layers and when you switch out items you keep the same parts of the layers. You guys saw this same mantel [HERE] as my “fallo-ween” mantel. Something as simple as switching out the moon & the Halloween sign for my new October sign gave this a whole new look & brought it from “fall-tween” to fall in an instant. I kept the candlesticks and garland [my staple items] and turned this Halloween mantel into a fall mantel.

I absolutely loved Anne of Green Gables growing up, when I saw this sign from Oh Sweet Skye I knew I had to have it! My favorite thing about Oh Sweet Skye is that you can customize all different parts of your sign. For their signs you are able to choose the frame, the background color, the word color, and optional add ons. For this sign I choose an olive background, white words, light stain frame, and whitewash add on! I love how this combination makes it look like a vintage chalkboard which fits in perfectly to our cozy cottage farmhouse living room.

I hope this shows you guys how easy it can be to change out parts of your mantel for the holidays! Create a set layout you like and choose which items make the layers in your mantel. Simply switch out parts of your layers for more seasonal items and replace them with the originals when the season is over! Thank you guys so much for visiting the blog today and every day. Xx Liz Marie
Happy October to you. This quote is my all time favorite fall quote. I love how you changed it up so easily and how cozy the space is.
She forgot to add the word “I”… but it looks like there is still space to add it on the right. Very pretty. Love the sign color with the fall browns and all the white!
I love the the way the two floral side panels work so well with the mantel. Can you tell me what they are and where you acquired them. Loving this post.
Love, love it! And I do appreciate how you explain the process! of decorating! Sometimes it the little things that get me!
Well the sign may be missing an “I” but at least it’s not as bad as the time when Liz ordered a custom sign online that read “vegatables.”
I never leave comments but want to tell you what an inspiration you are with all aspects of your life. Love, love everything about your design style and decor choices you make. The candles holders on your Fall mantle are very simplistic, yet stylish. Where did they come from? I’ve searched everywhere for them. Please help?
I have never seen or heard of your blog. I was browsing Barnes & Noble and your gorgeous book cover caught my eye. When I flipped through it I knew I had to buy it. It’s SO me and my taste. Although my home doesn’t come close to yours, or to what I aspire to mine looking like, at least reading your book makes me feel warm and cozy and gives me inspiration. And on top of that, it’s a beautiful book to set on the coffee table!
I have been reading this blog for over a year; loving it! Have built and decorated nine homes during my husband’s career and know this all would have helped so much. First time to comment but I just have to know how to order the wallpaper that shows on either side of the mantel. Thanks so much!
I think that it is there, you just can’t see it because the candlestick is in the way.
The I is there, it is just covered up by the candlestick.
What size is this sign you ordered?
It’s not there.

Everything is quite lovely, however where are the answers to the questions on your comment board? These are a lot of the same questions that I have and I hate to repeat the same ones if I can just read the replies. Do you not answer questions? Is this space only for comments? Guess I’ll find out.
