It is finally time for our farmhouse countertop update! We had these quartz countertops installed over the summer and are absolutely loving them. I wasn’t sure how I wanted to share about our countertops, so I went to Instagram to gather any questions you guys had & thought I would answer them all in one place!

What are the countertops?
Our countertops are quartz, HERE is an entire blog post about why I love quartz so much! These countertops are quartz in the color rococo from West Michigan Kitchen Studio.

Why did we get new countertops?
This all started because were looking to move our island back into the kitchen (it had been in our in-home office) & our island has real marble on it. Only half of our kitchen had countertops at the time and the other half had woodblocks for the counters. We originally weren’t planning on quartz on the other half of our kitchen but once we decided on that we were having a hard time matching the original quartz. One thing I really like about the quartz we installed in the whole kitchen is that it matches really well with the real marble on our island. We loved our old counter, it was great quality and held up really well but we are happy we decided to make the switch to this new quartz.

Do you have to worry about staining them?
No that’s the best part of the quartz! You get the look of marble but it doesn’t stain, scratch, or burn like marble does! It is great for anyone who tends to be messy [like I am] or wants low maintenance counters.

How do you make sure the counters coordinate with a white cabinet color?
I would recommend seeing if you can get a sample of the material you want to use for your counters and comparing it to your house to your cabinets! For the most part, I’d say anything goes with white cabinets. It just depends on if you want warm or cool undertones to your countertops.

How much décor should be on your counters?
I only keep what we really use on the counters, I don’t like having clutter on our counters. So, I try to make sure that the only stuff on our counters are things we use regularly. On one side of our kitchen, all I have on our counters is our speaker, coffee makers, soaps, and a dish drying rack. On the other side of our kitchen, I have more items on the counters. Over here on the counters, I have our sugars and flour jars, toaster, mixing bowl, cutting boards, and eggs. My goal is to have as much workable space as possible on our counters!

Does putting in new counters destroy the wood cabinets?
We hired professional installers to put in our countertops and it does not destroy the cabinets to remove and install new counters. They have the tools to properly remove and replace the countertops without it causing any problems. If you do it yourself without the proper tools, I would imagine you could end up with some damage.

How do you make your counters cozy?
I would say adding candles is a great way to cozy up your kitchen counters. Also having a little snack on the counters makes your home feel more inviting and cozy, in our case, it’s gluten-free pumpkin bread! And of course, you can’t forget the cozy essential in our house … COFFEE!

Do you think you’ll change these or do you want to keep them?
I absolutely love these countertops, they are exactly what I wanted, and I love that they match the marble in our island. I don’t have any plans to change these counters, my vision for our kitchen has finally started to come together fully and I love it so much.

If you guys want to know anything else about our kitchen, let me know in the comments. I’d love to do another post to help answer your questions or show you guys what you want to see! Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today and every day. Xx Liz Marie
Do you keep your eggs out all the time or just for photos? The counters are gorgeous.
Beautiful!
When do you plan to bring the Island back in? Anxious to see how it looks?
Thank you for sharing your hard work!
Gorgeous kitchen! What color are the walls painted? Thank you.
What is the color name of your Quartz? I am looking for some like this for my bathroom. Thank you.
Its in! We’ve had it back in for a few months, I’ll add in photos with the island!
It’s called rococo quartz!
These eggs have their natural coating on them so they can stay out all of the time! Thank you so much, we love the counters!
They are Sherman Williams Pure White.
I know cost vary across the country but what price point did you find yours? Also, does quartz scratch like corian?
You have such a beautiful home! I’m not sure if these 2 questions have been asked/answered before as I am new here. Sooo iiif they have, I apologize! Where did you find your awesome cabinet hardware and tour beautiful pendant lights that are above your island?
How do you like your coffee maker? How is the coffee? Have you ever had a keurig or similar Kcup style?
You mentioned quartz does not burn? It actually does, heat reactivates the resin and will leave “halo “ of what’s left on it. Pan or pot. It can not be repaired.
Where did you get your dish scrubbers? Completely LOVE your kitchen.
I also want to find out how you did your kitchen floors? 🙂 thank you
Where is your dish rack from?
I love white! … and your kitchen is beautiful! Do you have counter behind your range to hold up the cutting boards? I was thinking of doing the same thing, but I have a approx. 2″gap from the back of the range to the walll. What’s your secret? ?
Also, a post about your ceilings would be great! Like how do you paint them with a brush or spray? Do you dust them often?
Thanks for sharing Liz!
I don’t know if you already posted about this, but did y’all build the shelves on each side of the stove and windows? If so what did you use? They are beautiful.
Do you have archives of past posts, such as your old house?
Very pretty Liz! I have a question: do you own a microwave, and if so, where do you hide it?
Can’t say I care for the look of a microwave in my kitchen, but hard to live without one!
Hello Liz, Your kitchen is absolutely gorgeous. And your decorating style is awesome. Does your little kitchen table have the same quartz top on it? I bought your book and I adore it. It is the greatest, just like YOU!!! Julie.
