You know I love creating different looks with my entryway & I’ve gotta be honest with you guys I put something up in this spot and I just didn’t love it. I tried rearranging things, moving pieces around and I just couldn’t get it to look right. So I ended up taking it all down and starting from scratch! Sometimes that’s just how it ends up, you have this great design idea in your head and it doesn’t work out the way you planned.

So you are probably thinking is, what’s the point of this Liz?? The reason I wanted to share this little story is to share with you that this is part of the design process. Sometimes you style a whole space and it just doesn’t turn out. But instead of giving up I took a break from this spot and came back to it a week later. I had a whole new idea for this space & I ended up liking it so much better! If you are feeling frustrated with a spot in your home know that you are not alone. And sometimes all it takes is letting the spot be for a little bit and coming back to it with fresh eyes and a clear mind!

Now onto this little entryway! Whenever I’m styling an entryway I pick a few key elements and style the entryway from there. Some elements that I typically include in my entryways are … mirrors, frames, hooks, shelves, architectural pieces, a bench, stools, basket, shoe trays, etc. Once you choose your base elements then I recommend adding in your favorite seasonal or decorative pieces! For this entryway, I used art frames, hooks, a stool, and a basket. Then, of course, I added in a few seasonal elements to give it that festive winter touch it needed!

For the seasonal pieces I, of course, had to add my snowman kit [HERE], it is ready for us to use on the perfect snowy day & build a snowman with Cope! I believe the snowman kit is out of stock online, but it may be available in store at some Targets! The cutest little Christmas tree from Target [HERE]. These vintage ice skates and a winter scarf! Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without the bottle brush Christmas tree garland [HERE] … I have been absolutely loving it this season and you guys have too!

I hope that this post inspires you to finally tackle that spot in your home that you haven’t been loving. To try to come at it with fresh eyes and an open mind & to not be too hard on yourself when something doesn’t turn out the way you expected! The best kind of home decor is anything that makes you feel happy, cozy, and at peace. Thank you for visiting the blog today & everyday. Xx Liz Marie

I absolutely love this post! We are empty nesters now and our boys all played hockey. We recently moved into our downsized custom built home. I sure agree with you that decorating a home is a process. In my entry way I have a large french market basket hanging on one of the hooks. The boot bench niche just needs a pair of hockey skates and a scarf to make it complete. The boys(men now) all travel home for the holidays and I know this will make them smile. Off to Goodwill to find some skates!
Oh….I love your book…..read it cover to cover in one setting.
