One thing I really wanted to share more of on the blog this year are easy DIY projects! Last year we took some time off from DIY projects because we wanted to spend more time as a family with Cope being a newborn. Some days there just isn’t enough time in the day to come up with an idea for a DIY project and complete it. But I’ve been feeling really inspired lately and have a few different ones I am working on! The first DIY project I want to share with you guys is these super easy DIY Pedestals!

For these DIY Pedestals, you need candlestick holders, plates or platters, and e600 glue! You can find candlestick holders, plates, and platters literally anywhere. I found these carved wooden flower plates at Hobby Lobby]! While these are no longer available, I added some other options below! Whether you want to go buy new ones, find some vintage ones, or reuse some from around your house … these are all super easy items to find! To make the pedestal all I did was glue the plate to the top of the candlestick holder. I let them sit overnight to let the glue set and dry completely. The next day these are ready to use!
Step 1: Take your candlestick whether its a vintage metal one or a new wood one and just wipe it down to clear it of debris.
Step 2: On the flattest surface put a ring of the E-6000 glue around the candlestick that will stick to the bottom of the plate, platter, or tray.
Step 3: Stick the candlestick to the center of the plate on the bottom and leave it set for 24 hours to dry properly. Tip: If the candlestick is sturdy, you can place something heavy on top of the candlestick to help it dry in place.
Step 4: After the glue is dry, turn your tray upright and you have your very own pedestal to use in your decor, as a centerpiece, for a party, & more.

We are in full-on party planning mode so I made these to use at Cope’s birthday party. Our plan is to use these to hold some of the desserts! These could be used for so many different things though … You could also use these to make a centerpiece on your table, you can use them on shelves, these could go in your daily decor, it could be a candle holder or anything else you would want to display on these!

I hope you guys enjoyed this really simple and easy DIY pedestal. I plan on sharing even more DIY’s on the blog this year! Do you guys enjoy small DIY projects like this or do you like big DIY projects? Thank you for stopping by the blog today and every day. Xx Liz Marie

Thank you for sharing. So going on a hunt for materials.
I did a similar thing with Goodwill dishes and candlesticks I had collected through the years. I use them during my daughter’s wedding shower, and then later my son’s wedding. They’ve held up for years now!
Love this DIY! For my daughters bday party a few years ago I picked up old china plates & made these with glass candle sticks for a stand to put donuts on ?
Absolutely adorable! Looks like Hobby all by is sold out. I have soo many candle sticks that I’m overwhelmed. However I have tons of party type stands And tiered trays as well. I’ve been seeing those wooden plates at various stores thought they were bowels.
Can u please source the white scalloped planter shown in one of the pictures?
I will be making one of the stands soon 🙂
Such a cute project. ? I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOUR BLOG! I’m in a white phase now and it’s your fault. LOL! Hubby comes home and something new has been painted white. Do you have a certain color you use? I would live to know the brand and color name.
We have a primitive pie safe that is so similar to your cabinet in this newsletter. The shelves are arranged differgently and the two doors open like a standard cabinet. It used to be brown. That beast took 22 hours to paint. Another day, hubby came home and our kitchen table, a harvest style, was painted white. ?
Great decision about putting your baby first when he was a newborn. We adopted our daughter at 3 weeks old. Time goes so fast. Take lots of videos. We did not take nearly enough. She will be 11 next month and although I’m a SAHM, I feel like I didnt soak up enough of her. Cope is a beautiful boy.
Thanks, Liz! Your DIY pedestals are brilliant! It never occurred to me something like these might be “diy-able”! My husband has a storage shed full of beautiful old wood, including old finials, balustrades, porch railings, etc. he and my father-in-law have picked up at farm auctions and ancient, abandoned farmhouses around the area of my in-law’s farm. (where my husband grew up) Time for me to suit up and scrounge around in that shed! Once again, your creativity has provided me with the inspiration I needed.
Most of you know I have a theme for this month and it is Back to Basics. This week I mastered a flaky pie crust and Pear Almond Pie and I learned so much! Chef Monique Chan was back in my kitchen and I loved cooking with her. The IGTV video showcases the day we spent together and all of the steps you need to follow to make this dessert. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! I am really enjoying crafting for Valentine s Day so I made these clay heart ornaments. They really are easy to make and there is a complete DIY on my blog.
