You guys have probably seen recently on my Instagram and in all my stories that I do that I painted our kitchen island. Our new kitchen island is from our shop, The Found Cottage. I did keep our last kitchen island to do something fun with, but we were needing something a little bigger and with more non-accessible storage once Cope started getting into everything. You can see our last kitchen island [HERE]. Today I deep cleaned our kitchen & it now feels so fresh so I wanted to quickly get on here and show you our painted kitchen island and our freshly cleaned kitchen…

The Island was a lovely blue color, but I wanted to make it more “white cottage farm” so I painted it with fusion mineral paint in Champlain. You can see the kitchen island before I painted it [HERE]. I love the cozy cottage white color that is a little darker and warmer than our stark white cabinets. I love having an island like this that I can paint as I crave change. Things I still want to do to it: Change the hardware out to match the kitchen cabinet hardware. Also, I want to add quartz countertops to the top like our countertops in the rest of the kitchen. More on that later!

These drawers in the kitchen island are so handy! They are so deep & there are four of them so they store so much stuff. We keep a lot of pantry items in some, utensils, & more in the island & it functions so well for our family. The baskets under the island hold a lot of back up food especially now in this time.

So that’s our kitchen island right now & our freshly cleaned kitchen. Want to see more of our kitchen with our last island and get some more kitchen sources? Head to our winter kitchen tour [HERE] to take a tour! Thank you guys for stopping by the blog today and every single day to see what we are up to! Be sure to pin this post for later inspiration & share with your friends who love cozy cottage farmhouse style. xx Liz Marie
Your home is gorgeous!!!!! I cannot tell you the smile that your little guy brings to my face. You a d your husband deserve all the happiness that you have. I have a very similar island and we placed quartz on top of it. I need some advice my stools are black I so want to paint them white today, should I? I would love to send you pics of what I am talking about.
My favourite kitchen ever!!
What colour stain is on the top of your island? I currently have a butcher block on my island, would love a similar colour!
t looks fabulous!
I would love to know stain color of wood top also, on kitchen island.
I’m curious if this is an old piece or new and how is the wood treated. Is it food safe or do you not put food on it? It is beautiful but then I loved your old island a lot! My kitchen unfortunately is too small for an island.
Love it!! I love the little bit of warmth the wood from the island brings to the room! Looks so fresh and clean!
Your kitchen is beautiful! Every time I see it it inspires me! I was a little worried when you were getting a new island, but it’s great. I would put a well made butcher block top on it, I love white and wood. I love my butcher block countertop.
So beauty and inspiring. Truly!! What do you have planned for the hardware on the cabinets? We are looking to change ours out too. And I can’t decide what color I want!! Can’t wait to see where you take it next!!
Thank you so much Linda! I love our white stools so I’d say go for it!
Hi Danielle, we didn’t stain this ourselves so I’m not sure what color stain it would be it came this way!
This is a new piece, so while I’m sure it would be safe for food, we don’t typically put food directly onto our island!
Thank you so much Shirley! I loved our old island so much, I actually saved it for another spot in our home!
I plan to match the hardware on the island to the hardware on our cabinets!
You could preserve the lovely & warm wood tones of the island top by using a sheet of furniture/table top glass on top of the wood. Furniture glass is tempered glass and can be purchased in a variety of thicknesses and with a variety of polished and safe edges (flat, pencil, bevel & ogee). Most glass shops selling furniture glass include bumpons to place between the glass and the tabletop, and the bumpons generally give a bit to help smooth out grooves/bumps in the tabletop… then the glass table top doesn’t rock or slide. Sits nice and solidly on the table/island. And bonus… the glass is food friendly and super easy to clean and disinfect.
Where did you get your kitchen island, love it?
Love the island where did you get?
I love your new island but I personally would leave the wood top…it is gorgeous (although I love your quartz counters!) The wood adds so much warmth and charm to the white and I love the hardware already on it. Not everything has to match and it looks more like it has been accumulated over time as it has been! Beautiful!!!
Excellent images, the white color is beautiful, it fits very well with everything and they make harmony, good ideas to decorate … greetings
Love the island! Everything looks great. May I ask where you got the lights over island? They are exactly what I’ve been searching for my kitchen. I love that look. The bunny is super cute too!! ? Thank you so much in advance.
Hi! I Love the lights over your island….can you tell me where they’re from?
Hey Liz, I’m new to Fusion Mineral paint. Can you tell me the steps you did to prep before you painted the island? I just bought an antique buffet similar to yours and I want to paint it in Raw Silk. Any advice would be appreciated!
I love your Kitchen and island! It’s just so cozy. Where did you get the baskets under the island? I love that idea for storage.
Please share where we can purchase one of those adorable gold polka dot teddy bear honey jars!!!
