We have been busy transforming our storage space above our garage into an office space for the last couple of months and I’m so happy to tell you that it is so close to being done! We have big plans for this garage space of ours, and the office space is just the beginning. I’m so grateful to have a space I can escape to and work during the day. It helps all of us here at Team Liz Marie focus and brainstorm on content to create for all of you!

Flooring
The flooring has since been installed and we even have some “office” furniture in the space! We wanted a medium-range flooring that will be super low maintenance but still stick to our cozy cottage farmhouse style. We decided to go with the Coretec Vinyl Plank in the Color Calypso Oak. This space is far from finished, but it is very functional for our little team. We still need to finish off the bottom trims with shoe molding, figure out our lighting situation, but we love the flooring!
Heating and Cooling is Fully Installed
While it’s nearing the end of April and the weather should start warming up, we have had a few snowy days here in the past week. Early on in the process we shared how we had blown in foam insulation to try to make this former attic space more bearable in either the warmer or cooler months. We finally have the A/C unit full installed and ready to cool us off, if the warm weather every comes-back to Michigan. To be honest this time of year is so hard, you see your souther friends getting out fully in the gardens, here we are playing the should I bring my plants in tonight or leave them outside game. So for now, the A/C is just a decoration, and luckily we are still able to work up in our office thanks to our heating and propane. We have had a few people, looking at buying their first farmhouse ask about propane, how it works and if we like it. We do! We were able to easily relocate our big house tank to accommodate the pool, and will eventually combine our small garage tank with our house tank into a larger propane tank to make the filling much more manageable. After coming off of earth day last week, and trying to be more green, we love knowing that propane is better for the environment than other energy sources. Checklist of items we still need to do up in the office space:
- Create a Balcony Space, the door leading to nowhere is temporary
- Decide what we want to put in the alcove windows, we are thinking little working spaces
- Purchase lighting
- Add door handles
- Add a railing to the stairwell
- Style and add decor
