A couple of weeks ago I revealed the new wallpaper that we added to our mudroom and some changes that I hope to slowly start making! If you would like to catch up on the updates, click [HERE] and [HERE] to see the blog posts on the mudroom changes thus far. Today I’m sharing one more change that we have made! I’m not sure if this change is permanent…but is anything ever permanent in our house? I would love to share a couple of options that I have been thinking about for this space and the antique dresser in the mudroom…
You may remember I had an industrial sink in our mudroom that I would use for filling up the dog’s water dishes, watering plants, and wiping off tiny dirty feet. But the goal was to eventually move that out to the greenhouse. I loved it so much but was looking to change setups for some more hidden storage that the sink didn’t offer. I also really wanted a water source out in the greenhouse so bringing that sink setup out there made a lot of sense. Then comes along this gorgeous antique dresser. It’s perfect and has just the right amount of storage drawers. You may remember it from my original mood board for this space [HERE].
Option 1:
Our first option is to stick to the original plan of adding a sink to the top of the dresser. It would be such a unique look but still, stick to our cozy farmhouse aesthetic. It would also give us a good amount of hidden storage, which is what I was looking for! But is the dresser too perfect to be changed? Do I put a sink on top and modify it for plumbing? That’s a scary thought, but could be so useful and beautiful!
Option 2:
The second option is to leave the dresser the way it is. This is Jose’s pick. He thinks the dresser is beautiful the way it is and it doesn’t need to change. I am starting to feel that way as well! It is a great piece that can be used in multiple places in our home, and If I make it into a sink, that really limits the places that it can be used. I am also thinking…do I really need a sink feature in the mudroom when I have a bathroom sink nearby?
Option 3:
Another option that I have been debating is moving the tall antique apothecary cabinet that is currently in our family room and switching it with the mudroom dresser. Doing a little flip-flop! I got the antique apothecary cabinet a couple of months ago and I have been loving it in the family room. But why not try it somewhere else! If you would like to read more about the antique apothecary cabinet, click here [HERE]. This tall cabinet could add a lot of storage in the mudroom from mail to shoes to gloves to farm necessities and beyond. Then the short apothecary that is currently in mudroom could act as a tv stand in the living room which would be gorgeous. A great option in my book!!

Should I turn the antique dresser into a unique working sink for our mudroom? Or keep it the way it is? Let me know your thoughts on Facebook or Instagram! Thanks for stopping by the blog today and every day to see what we are up to!
