A couple of weeks ago I shared a Mudroom Updates Mood-board with some plans that I hope to slowly work on in the mudroom. If you would like to check out that mood board, click here [HERE]. I wanted to share with you today one of the first steps we are taking to bring the mood board to life. A summer mudroom wallpaper refresh! I have some sad news/bad news about the paper, but more on that in a minute. Let’s enjoy it for a second…
The wallpaper turned out to be not the color I originally thought it would be. Whether I ordered the wrong color or the wrong color was shipped [see my mood board.. not sure what happened there], I was hoping the wallpaper would be more of a green than a tan. Instead of getting down about it, I decided to try painting over it to change the texture and color. I figured if down the road I wanted to end up changing it, I could. But for now, It will live in here and maybe I will end up liking it more! Living with something for a is always the way to go anyways.
I decided to use two products to create a whitewash/glaze to paint over it. I used one of my go-to paints, the fusion mineral paint in the color raw silk, mixed with Valspar Clear Glaze.I simply wiped the glaze on the wallpaper with a rag and it toned down the wallpaper a bit.
While my dreams for the mood board are far from over, I feel like this is a good start! I still plan to add a locker system to help conceal little coats and boots. My plan with the sink is to also move our current system out to the greenhouse. We like to work slowly but surely here on the farm so I don’t have a timeline yet for any of these things, but will of course update you when we start to make any new progress!
Since the wallpaper is not exactly what I had ordered I will most likely be changing it soon, but you know I had to share with you first and create a look for you that is hopefully inspiring in some small way. What do you think of the summer wallpaper mudroom update and the other updates we have planned? Let me know on Facebook or Instagram! Thanks for stopping by the blog today and every day!
