I am not exaggerating when I say the main floor of our home was bare and furniture-less for about 5 or 6 months. With production hold-ups and shipping delays, purchasing furniture has been a struggle! I’m so happy to share with you today updates on our cozy front living room as it is now full of furniture! I also want to share a sneak peek at projects to come for this space.
A Happy Mantel Mistake
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have heard my talk about an impulse decision gone wrong. One day I got the idea to paint our fireplace mantel white, and once completed I instantly regretted it! Do you ever have one of those moments? I felt terrible! I decided to live with it for a moment before trying to reverse the damage, if at all possible. As always, Jose came to my rescue! He removed the mantel from the wall and took it outside. He then pressure-washed it with 3200 psi to carefully remove all the paint without damaging the detail of the mantel. I think it turned out great! I love that some of the paint is still in the crevices of the mantel. It adds detail to it that it didn’t have before, and I feel a lot better about making crazy impulsive decisions!
New Cozy Sofas
I have been searching for sofas for a long time. I knew that I wanted two sofas facing each other for the purpose of gathering and conversation. So I found this amazing sofa at Pottery Barn that is also super customizable depending on everyone’s wants and needs. I wanted sofas that had a classic silhouette & that look like they could be antique finds that I had slipcovered. Oh, & speaking of slipcovers, I needed them to be slipcovered with dogs & toddlers running around the house. I found through my sofa search that I really loved the English roll arm sofas the most & I thought they would go well The sofas that we decided to go with is this one here [HERE]! We went with the 80″ bench cushion in the color Twill White. It’s also super comfortable and cozy. While we have only had them for a couple of weeks, I plan to update with a full review once we have lived with them for a while!
Plans to Come
I am always dreaming up ideas that I have for spaces in our home, and the plans that I have had for this cozy front living room are plans that I have had for quite some time! I say it all the time, but you truly have to live in your spaces for a while [sometimes years] to decide on more permanent plants. A lot of what we have done to our house is cosmetic or temporary. We have so much more renovation to do! This front living room was gutted and put back together for the mean time, but now I think I’m ready to finalize it’s layout. This room is pretty large and while some really love the open floor plan, I think I prefer a closed-off plan with smaller, cozier spaces. So we are planning on adding a wall to separate the entryway from the rest of the room with pocket doors to be able to close off the room. I will, of course, take you all along on the journey, but for now, we are enjoying this cozy space with all of its new additions!
I am really enjoying the changes that have been made to our cozy front living room. Have you ever made an impulse decision that you instantly regretted? I would love to hear your design stories! Let me know on Facebook or Instagram! Thanks for stopping by the blog today and every day!
