I have shared this idea before on the blog, but it’s so good that it’s worth a share again! Each year for our fall décor I make a DIY fall pumpkin vase out of a faux pumpkin for our home. I usually end up making more as seasonal gifts, too. This Cozy faux pumpkin carving idea is SO EASY and is totally customizable to fit your style and seasonal décor. Here is a DIY fall pumpkin vase I whipped up today and I’m not going to lie, it was raining outside and cold in our house from the A/C so this totally put me in the mood for fall days ahead.
I purchased this faux pumpkin for less than $10 from Michaels and the cute pumpkin carving tools are actually a Target find from the Hearth & Hand line. For this project you can use any faux pumpkin that is plastic, foam, or carvable material. I simply used the pumpkin tools to cut the stem off. You can keep the stem or toss it at this point. From here, you can put floral foam in your pumpkin to hold your stems or you can stuff it with paper depending on how the inside of your pumpkin looks. For the stems I found these short fall floral bunches at Michaels as well. Using shorter stems made this DIY project super easy because I didn’t need to do any major cutting of the stems to make them shorter. I did bend the stems when sticking them in, but the bunches also helped quickly fill the DIY pumpkin vase. For some added drama, I added some faux pheasant feathers into the arrangement and voila! You have a cozy fall arrangement you can use on a shelf, on a coffee table, in a dining table centerpiece, or on a kitchen island to bring fall into your home.
