Personal opinion: Christmas is a whole lot cozier with items you have collected over time. Maybe it’s hand me downs from your family, maybe it’s it’s that you find at antique shops & thrift shops over time, maybe it’s a few new items each season that you add to your Christmas decor or if you are anything like me, maybe it’s a mix of all the above. That’s cozy. A personal unique Christmas collection that only you have because it’s filled with items gathered over time from your personal experiences, memories, & adventures. The new Christmas catalogs are beautiful each year, but it’s not your version of cozy so my personal opinion: you don’t need a ton of new items each Christmas. Adding to your collection with a few new things is great, but those collections from the thrift shop, the finds from your grandma’s attic, the antique store pieces, & more make your Christmas decor truly special & truly YOU. It doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s decor as you scroll this app, it doesn’t have to be super colorful, it doesn’t have to be neutral, it doesn’t have to have a theme, it can all match, it can be what you want it to be & what makes you & your loved ones feel cozy this time of year. Creating magic for your family while creating your families own version of cozy. This was a glimpse at how I do it in our home with thrifted frames I have collected over time & antique Christmas postcards to bring a nostalgic vibe to our front living room. What do you think? Slowly decorating parts of our farmhouse that’s currently being renovated in areas that are not fully ripped up. I’ll share more soon! xx

We like to keep our farmhouse porch cozy in the winter, decorating with real and faux winter greens and keeping a few chairs out for those random not-so-cold days. With a warm drink, a few layers and a throw, we can fight the winter blues by enjoying the season’s beautiful scenes. These @suncastcorp rocking chairs are designed for year-round, so they handle chilly or wet weather without a problem. And the in-seat storage is perfect for extra cozy blankets!

You can win your own pair of Suncast rocking chairs this holiday season! 🎁 To enter, ❤️ this post, follow @suncastcorp and tag a friend ⬇️ whose porch would be perfect for this furniture giveaway. You have until 11:59 PM EST on December 7 ❄️ to enter. Good luck!

#Ad Mixing old & new, it’s the base of my whole style. I always describe my style as ‘cozy cottage farmhouse’ but three words can’t encapsulate it all. It’s the combination of old & new. It’s the collecting treasures over time. It’s the thrill of finding old items & the satisfaction of finding new items that are just as timeless as the old ones. I could keep going, but recently I went on a trip to @Target & found a couple new pieces to add to our Christmas collection here on the farm & these thoughts went through my head when I found the brass bell garland, the old time radio, & the other pieces that fit in so well with my antique christmas finds. Here are just three tips on mixing old & new items, let me know if you want more!

1. Find new items that were made like the old ones. Made with solid metal that will last, shaped & inspired by antiques, & timeless items that never go out of style & can fit in your space forever.

2. Use layers! Layering items that are both old & new add to that eclectic cozy cottage farmhouse look & make it look that it’s not just decorated, it’s collected.

3. Only grab what you love. When you find old & new treasures that you truly love & that are not just trendy or what others are using, they will be the perfect mix because you love them & are not just buying because others love them or they are popular.

I could keep going.. let me know if you want to speak on this more. I honestly just set my @targetstyle haul up here to show you, but I’m loving where this vignette is going so let’s play around with it & I’ll show you when it’s done. It’s quite a happy mix if I do say so myself. None of our Christmas decor is done, but even the progress is happy & giving me cozy Christmas vibes. Do you love mixing old & new in your style? What’s your biggest problem you have? Any questions? I would love to chat more about this & share more Inspo! #targetpartner #targetstyle #targetfinds #christmasdecor #christmasdecorations #cozycottagefarmhouse https://liketk.it/4pdYH

Cooking this holiday season is made easy with @walmart #Walmartpartner. Why not cook & bake the gift of fond memories passed down from our families? As I looked upon the chore of cooking this week it dawned on me that one gift I can give myself this holiday season [& beyond] & my family is to gather up recipes from my childhood & recreate them for my little family, to bring to holiday parties, & gift to loved ones as gifts from our kitchen. I’m not the best cook & admittedly it’s not my favorite thing to do, but with the idea of it being a gift behind it, it gave it a new purpose for me & made it really enjoyable as I recreated some comfort food tonight for dinner. I also look forward to asking family members for more recipes to recreate through winter to cozy up with & to help beat those winter blues. I recreated a yam soufflé recipe tied to many fond memories of mine that I shared [& we laughed about] at the dinner table tonight. It was only 20 degrees today so a sweet comfort food was the perfect remedy. If you want to create this recipe here it is:

2 Can Sweet Potatoes
1 Cup Sugar
1/4 Cup Milk
2 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 tsp Salt
1/3 Cup Flour
1 Cup Pecans
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Stick Butter (Main Dish) 2/3 Cup Butter (topping)

Main Dish: Mix Together Sweet Potatoes, Sugar, Milk, Eggs, Stick of Butter (Main), Vanilla, and Salt

Topping: Mix Together Flour, Pecans, Butter (Topping), and Brown Sugar

Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

I hope this helps you this holiday season if you are looking for a gift idea or maybe just need a new perspective on cooking family meals. It for sure helped me today. If you are looking to save money or save time, I used @walmart delivery and got these groceries in an hour after having this idea. From one admittedly bad planner to another.. hope that helps too!

Happy Thanksgiving friend. I am very thankful for you. I could never say it enough. I’m so thankful that you show up here in my little cozy corner of the internet, thankful that you are here in this community to chat about & share all things old, new, & in-between, thankful that I have friends all over who love the same things, & super grateful that on my best & worst days I get to come here & chat.. thank you for being here. I made a little “thankful” tree to put in our house this week using a tree I spray painted, some antique Thanksgiving postcards, and an urn. Super simple Thanksgiving decor & fun to have cards with what we are thankful for on them as reminders to us all week. You were on one of them 🫶🏼🦃🤍

Hi! I am Liz Marie & I’m thankful you are here. A little about me if you are new here or if you didn’t know…

I am a wife of a veteran & a momma to a four year old. Love my boys.

It’s rare I miss a day at the thrift shop or an antique store. My style is a mix of old & new, but mostly old.

The Lord is my shepherd & I am reminded of that analogy every time I look out our farmhouse windows at our barn full of sheep.

I am an author to 4 books. 3 books on how to make your home cozy & 1 children’s book on what makes a family a family.

I have carried 12 babies, but on our infertility journey they all went to be with the Lord before I got to hold them on the outside.

I’ve been on the today show 6 times & I have never re-watched myself because ew.

I own a shop called the found cottage filled with items both old & new in west Michigan & it was a lifelong dream to own a brick & mortar!

We are currently fully renovating our 1800’s farmhouse that the wright brothers once stayed at.

I have two drinks in my hands at all times & I never finish any of them.

I love creating, making, designing, & sharing it all. So THANK YOU for being here.

What are you most thankful for this year?

One of my favorite places to add cozy holiday vibes to every Christmas is Cope’s bedroom because one of the things you learn quickly as a parent as that you are in control of the holiday magic for your kids. #ad There is just something about creating magic every day for your kid & it’s so easy to do around the holidays. A few simple touches from tjmaxx.com (http://tjmaxx.com/) like an advent calendar, fun garlands, a festive night light, & more can create the coziest Christmas room for your kids to escape to & in this world a room that feels like a big hug is the best gift we can give this holiday season. Check out the blog today to see more of our festive tjmaxx.com (http://tjmaxx.com/) finds that we used to bring Cope’s room into the holiday season. One fun hack I did for this space: I took a soft cotton tablecloth I found at @TJMaxx & used it as a top sheet for his bed to get the perfect fun Christmas touch on the bed. Do you have a box of Christmas decor collected for the kids in your life? Do you do bedrooms? I don’t do much in ours, but I know others who do & I love that! Let me know in the comments below. https://liketk.it/4ojny #tjmaxx #holidaydecor #cozychristmas #cozyhome #christmasdecor #cozycottagefarmhouse #cozycottage #cottagechristmas #christmasfarmhousedecor #christmasfarmhousestyle
