2020 vs. 2023 - Feeling good. Maybe something good did come out of that lockdown. Pretty proud of both of these women here. What has changed in your life since 2020?

I love this series for so many reasons, but one big one is that when I am antiquing my heart skips a beat when I find an old painted piece with beautiful age and patina & now I can help bring those same colors into your homes. I hope this series is helpful & fun because it’s ALWAYS interesting finding and exploring new paint colors. This piece in our mud room is the the first piece that gave us a HUGE range of colors from warm grays to grays with green undertones & beyond. It’s a hard one to video/shoot because of the lighting back here, but it’s one of our MOST asked about pieces as many people think we painted it, but it was found like this so I am extra excited to be able to share some paint colors that are similar to this beautiful piece. What do you think of these colors?! Have you tried any? Let me know if this series inspires any of your painting adventures.. I would love to see them. Screenshot these colors & be sure to save & share this reel to keep these paint colors for later 🙌🏼🫶🏼🤍🪴

My how our little family of three has changed over the years. Same spot, same people, same joy & gratitude all these years later to be a family. *swipe to see us through the years* I remember coming here when Cope was only a month old & walking these paths at Frederick Meijer Gardens in disbelief that I get to be a mom to this beautiful soul & again this weekend I walked around in awe of the amazing person he is turning into. & to think his birth mom made this amazing human & chose us to be his parents. I will never not walk around in awe of just how amazing that love is. I’ll never be in her shoes, but as a mom I can try to put myself into her shoes daily & let that propel me to be the best parent I can be to him for her. We often have wondered what it would be like to grow our little family & secretly we were hoping that it would happen without us trying. That is harder with adoption than it is with a pregnancy, but not out of the realm of possibility. Since last fall we have had on our to-do list to put some sort of announcement out that our hearts & home were open to adopt again. It felt like it had to be grand & big so that others would see it & word would be spread that we wanted to adopt. Per usual when I put pressure on myself to do something big, it just doesn’t happen. So here I am with my two boys letting you know in a not so big way on a random Monday without a plan or well thought out post, that our hearts & home are open to adopt again. Our desire to parent has always been strong since first starting to try to grow our family when we were 24 & it’s never gone away. We have this deep desire to give all we have in our hearts to raising humans in this world in a house filled with love. We never knew that our family would grow through adoption, but I am so glad it was God’s plan & not ours. We know that if it’s meant to be Cope will get a sibling & we will get the opportunity to parent another beautiful soul. I can’t put into words all I feel right now in this caption, but I’ll have more words later. We just finally felt the shove again to say that we would love to give our hearts & home to another little miracle like our Copeland Beau. xx

*UPDATE: we ordered #2* HELP!! One element that we are bringing into the kitchen when we make all the big changes is brick. I know, different for me right? I talked about it in my stories, but when we moved in up until now we really made some quick, easy, & affordable changes in the parts of the home we knew would ultimately change later whenever that timeline was. Well, 7 years later we are ready to start finalizing some things. The butler pantry floors & the oven nook will both be brick. Which one do you like from left to right: 1,2,3,4, or a bonus 5: painted brick. Unfortunately all the samples are different sizes, one has a mortar color that we won’t be using so that makes it look different, & they will all look very different on a bigger scale, but from what you can see, which one gets your vote? *note: number 2 is actual reclaimed bricks from old Chicago buildings so they are super unique & have authentic old patina. You can see more unfiltered looks at all of these in my stories. Thanks for always being part of the discussion in this cozy home of ours friends.

It was hard to find a somewhat clean spot in the house to snag a photo of some of my latest cleaning & organizing favorites. Most of the house is covered in boxes from cleaning out closets & garbage bags filled with… well, garbage. It has to look worse before it gets better right?! This mop & this vacuum are two new favorites that I ordered just in time for spring cleaning, but I shared more in my stories today! Are you spring cleaning yet? Is it on your list? Or is your house not in need of a big spring cleaning? If you are the last one, can I borrow your brain? Mine does not work like that. Teach us! 🧺🐶 See all of this in my stories today, my highlights, & more in the link in my profile. Happy Spring cleaning my friends! xx
