If you follow me on Facebook or instagram {Lizmariegalvan},
you know that I attended an Annie sloan painting class in
Holland, Michigan this past weekend at R. Lucas Scott.
I met the owner, Randy, last year & quickly became a fan of his work.
When I walked into is store for the first time I was awe struck.
I found myself swooning over every piece & falling in love with all of his work.
Ever since then, we have been keeping in touch
from NC to MI with just little encouraging comments,
but as many of you know about my trip to Michigan this past week
for the passing of my father in law, I wanted to visit his store again
while I was in Michigan. Lucky me that he was holding a
painting class that same week! Sign me up & call me a student
because I love to keep learning about this craft
that I have become so passionate about.
The class was this past Sunday & it was so much fun to spend a day in his
beautiful store painting, & being surrounded with inspiration.
I chose to paint a table for my parents cottage that my mom has been wanting
me to paint for a while now, & so I killed two birds with one stone.
I took a few pictures, but was really busy trying to finish my table within the
four hour class period time. First a small tour of R. Lucas Scott…
The store is too perfect right? Every time I am in there, I want
everything! Now onto the class…
This is Randy, the painting genius.
These are the other two ladies that were in the class with me &
Donovan, who works for Randy. I was the lucky one who got a brush
that shed like you wouldn’t believe onto my table, so Donovan was
helping me get all the hairs out of the wet paint haha. Thanks Donovan!
Hard at work on my table. Let’s see this beauty before…
& the table for my mom after…
The colors I used were olive & old ochre.
The Painting class was a wonderful experience & I can’t stop talking about it to
everyone that I see. I recommend an Annie Sloan painting class to anyone with experience or no experience with painting furniture. & if you are lucky enough to live in Michigan, I recommend heading to Holland to R. Lucas Scott to meet Randy & take one of his classes. You will not be disappointed. Have I mentioned my love for Annie Sloan paint has grown?
I am pretty much obsessed & now that I am back in North Carolina, I am working
on a few pieces with the paint.. Can’t wait to show you!
You can see more of Randy’s work on his website {here}
or on his facebook page {here}. Are you wanting some Annie
Sloan chalk paint or waxes? You can order them straight from
his website {here}. You can also check his facebook page for his next
painting class. I am in love with the paint & will be sharing
more of a review in another post.
