Summer is here…I think! It feels like summer outside today so you know what that means…Lemonade and Ice Cream! We are an ice cream family and it is Jose’s favorite dessert. I thought this would be a great addition to any hosting we will be doing this summer. Can you just imagine it now… a hot summer afternoon in the pool, with an afternoon homemade ice cream treat. I am so excited for that to be our reality. And I just love coming in on a hot summer day to some lemonade with fresh fruit inside it. We found some great items at Walmart for homemade ice cream and other hosting essentials. When new seasons approach I have my favorite stores and shops I circle through to find some new and fresh items, and Walmart is at the top of those stores, each season I find adding Walmart items into my new seasonal decor items. For me Summer style and decor are all about the vibes we want to bring to the farm this year. Walmart has some great items this season that will help transform your space while also offering cozy and relaxing vibes.
Tea towels are always one of the first things I think of when I adding an inexpensive new touch to the kitchen. I have tried showcasing different spring items, but Lemons are always my favorite, so this year we added a beautiful little lemon tea towel to bring those pops of spring and summer color into our kitchen.
Before we get to the yummy Ice Cream recipe, I wanted to share our other family favorite little sweet treat, that we love during the warmer months, lemonade. There is just something about having some lemonade with real lemons and grapefruit, my mouth is just watering typing this out right now. Jose and I love grapefruits by themselves so cutting a few slices off before we juice it makes not only a great garnish but adds the lovely little bitter taste. I picked up two of these drink servers during my Walmart seasonal hunt. I loved the idea of having two for two different drinks for hosting.
If you liked any of the items I picked up from Walmart for this summer, The Walmart Home section is a great place to shop for items that can transport you away this summer season. Shop all of my Walmart Finds by clicking the images below:
Okay… what we all are here for, the Ice Cream Recipe. This is a long rooted family recipe that has been passed down only to a few family members… Step 1, buy a cuisinart ice cream maker. Step 2. Turn to the receipt page and follow the very first recipe. Keep that close and I am only sharing it with my dedicated blog followers. In all seriousness, we have never made homemade ice cream and doing the very simplest recipe is a great base to start learning on what you may want to add to your next batch. We are looking so forward to finding those special little recipes as a family, but seriously this simple vanilla may be the best ice cream I have ever had.
