Creating cozy isn’t just a surface level thing for me. You might hear me say that word a lot & you have heard me say it for years. In 2018 I even started writing books about it. But why? Why do I say that word so often, why do I share cozy sources & tips daily? Why am I so passionate about cozy. Well, it’s simple all while being really complicated. The not so short version? I need it. Creating a cozy environment & lifestyle in our home, closet, & beyond is how I survived multiple deployments far from family & my husband alone in a state that I didn’t grow up in. Cozy is what nurtured me through 12 miscarriages & the crazy storm of infertility. A cozy closet is what embraced my body during fertility treatments, pcos pain, pregnancies, miscarriages, years of weight gain, & a health journey that’s seen some highs & lows. A slow cozy life on the farm is how I found hope when I was at my lowest physically & mentally after enduring a peeping tom at a home that I felt safe at, told we would never be parents, & loss of parents, grandparents, & more in life when everything felt not worth living for. Cozy isn’t just a surface level word for me. It’s a lifestyle that I have sought after, worked for, & craved to get through struggles I thought I could never survive. A cozy home can nurture you & your family & heal things you thought were broken forever. Don’t dismiss creating your own version of cozy in your life, take small steps daily to evaluate what cozy means to you by starting with your senses & finding out what makes your senses feel at peace. I hope daily I can share the little & big things to inspire you to find your own version of cozy from home to your closet & beyond. Today’s cozy? Cozy fits. Can you believe this set was $86 less than the original? I rounded up some of my favorite cozy sets & their more affordable look-a-likes on the blog today: LizMarieBlog.Com - link in my profile. Including these shoes that are $131 less than the originals! See my stories for more. I have a question for you: What is your biggest struggle with creating your own cozy home or closet? I would love to help you…

Spent some time this week making our bedroom cozy for summer. We were supposed to be in our new bedroom already last summer, but plans changed & so as usually we are making it cozy in the in-between because that’s what we do best! Speaking of cozy, see my stories today for our favorite cozy sheets, mattress, & pillows that are currently on sale for Memorial Day 🤍🌱 I have to know: are you a cotton, jersey, silk, bamboo, linen, flannel, or another fabric for your sheets?! I have a few favorites, but need you to help Jose & I settle a debate ☺️🙃 Let us know below…

That’s it. Don’t wait. Life is too short & it’s my belief that at every stage our homes can nurture us & our families. Cozy means something different to everyone, but sometimes I feel like we wait until our homes are perfect clean to light the candles, we wait for our homes renovations to be done to decorate, & we wait for the perfect budget to just start making our home our haven. Start somewhere. Start small. Do a little bit at a time & it will grow to your perfect version of cozy eventually. We have lived in our home 7 years & we are finally starting the “big renovations” as we finally know how we want this house to function for us, but the past seven years we were collecting antiques as we go, trying new pieces & swapping as we go, making temporary changes, decorating, lighting the candles, & curating our cozy. We are all so different, have different goals, & have different priorities when it comes to our homes, but we all want them to be cozy. Don’t wait to do that friends, you won’t regret it. See my stories today for more on this 🤍 What is something small you have done to make your home cozy? I would love to hear & maybe it can help someone else. Ps. The pool area furniture was officially put out so that means summer 2023 pool season here on white cottage farm 🙌🏼🐶🌊The dogs are happy that’s for sure because now they have a new nap area for the season. This is the 4th summer with these pool loungers left out by the pool from may-October in all weather & they are still going strong & these wicker chairs & Adirondacks are on their third summer & are still a favorite too. No wonder they made the top 10 favorites from last week & continue to do stay there. You can see them in the top 10 post today here: Lizmarieblog.com - link in my profile. Each year we add to the pool area a little at s time because my oh my creating a cozy pool area isn’t cheap or easy, but each year we choose a project or two & add a few new pieces & it’s slowly becoming a magical oasis here on the farm. We got the pool in 2020 when the pandemic changes all of our renovation plans & I sold my jeep for a pool & I have never regretted that decision or missed my jeep one day because it’s truly made our family so happy & we have made so many memories here already. We also found out our 4 year old is a little fish & lives in the water. Can’t wait to see what our 4th summer holds here in our cozy pool area & I can’t wait to share it with you! What should we do first? A fire pit area? A diving board? An outdoor grill area? Tons of landscaping? What would you do? What are your plans? Or what do you have in your outdoor space that you think everyone should do? Let us know! Ps. See my stories for links, sources, & I’ll share more about all the pieces soon if you want more! #whitecottagefarm #cozycottagefarmhouse #cozyhome #farmhouse #pooldesign #poolconstruction #poolview #cozycottagestyle #homerenovation #patiomakeover *slide to see more of the pool area so far*

As a mama, I have to say that every day I feel celebrated which is a gift in itself. There isn’t really a day that I feel not needed, wanted, & praised for the woman I am & the role I play in our little family & for that I am forever thankful. Sometimes I feel unworthy. Like this past Sunday when I realized my boys had been listening to me go on & on about this dumb [not so dumb] lemon bowl at home goods. Ya’ll I would go & visit this lemon bowl weekly just to see if it was marked down on clearance, but every week it just sat there in the same spot. Well, it finally went on clearance, but I still didn’t pull the trigger. One week I went in & it was GONE! I was a little sad & wondered what home it had ended up in, but I knew anyone who would buy a giant lemon bowl was a friend of mine. Mothers day rolls around & Jose & Cope give me a few gifts & I felt so spoiled yet at the end they said they had one more thing for me. So the next day we roll up in the home goods parking lot & immediately I know it’s the lemon bowl & I was in shock they remembered & also sad because I knew it was already gone, but we still looked & Jose got really sad as we walked down the aisle & saw it was gone [Jose’s love language is giving… he is only happy when he is doing things for others] BUT at the last second… THERE IT WAS! The beautiful lemon bowl. It was shoved to the back of a shelf in the clearance aisle. I almost ran to it & I was so excited [& Jose was relieved. I swear that man was sweating from guilt from bringing me there..] I snatched up the lemon bowl so fast. I hugged the lemon bowl all the way home & prayed I wouldn’t drop it because man that thing is HEAVY. When we got home I stuck a plant in it, but one day when our home isn’t being renovated I hope to do something fun with it like maybe even grow a lemon tree in it. How fun would that be? Anyways, that’s the story of two boys who love me & a strange clearance lemon bowl obsession. See my stories & the blog today for more dishes shaped like foods that I am obsessed with: lizmarieblog.com - link in my profile.🍋🪴🥬
