How To Remove Your Makeup With Only Water

I interrupt our usual DIY & home decor posts for a beauty post today. I’m a DIY girl who loves to work on projects, re-finish furniture, & decorate, but I also like to get ready everyday & be presentable when I go to my shop. So that means most days I’m putting makeup on my face. Ok, before you leave from the blog or ask me why the heck I’m blogging about this let me explain! A few years back I blogged [HERE] about how I cleared my skin of bad cystic acne. I had terrible skin that was very painful mentally and physically. It was a long journey, but I found the a more natural skin regimen is what my body needed. Since that post a few years ago I have changed up my routine quite a bit & I really need to share that with you guys soon, but I wanted to share a product today that has changed my life completely & has allowed me to wash my face without any harsh chemicals or any additional oils or cleansers.. just water. It’s called the makeup eraser & honestly I never thought I would be blogging my used face wash cloth, but it’s kind of a miracle product & after a year of using it… it’s time to introduce you to the best face wash cloth out there, The Makeup Eraser

Ok, so how did I find this wonderful little product? First of all.. you have to know I am a complete sucker for descriptions of beauty products at Sephora & Ulta… I love reading product claims & testing out the product to see if it works. I’m often disappointed or my skin is when the product causes it to breakout.. hashtag sensitive skin problems, but when I spotted this product called The Makeup Eraser [HERE] that claimed “A reusable, ultrasoft makeup remover cloth that erases makeup with only warm water.” ok, you know I had to try that! Before this new wash cloth I was washing my makeup off by using coconut oil and a hot wash cloth. It was going ok, but it was quite messy, time consuming, & not convenient when you travel. I picked up this wash cloth for twenty dollars which was a little pricey for me at first because I thought for sure it wouldn’t work, but boy was I wrong.

The first night I wanted to try it so I followed the directions on the package & washed my makeup off with the washcloth & warm water… that’s it. Foundation, mascara, eyeliner, bronzer… all gone with a few swipes. All of my makeup was on the wash cloth & I honestly couldn’t believe it was that easy.. what kind of magic was this thing? And on top of that my skin felt amazingly fresh and clean. No lie. I was shocked, but knowing my skin I thought for sure after a week or two it would break out or not clean as well as I thought.. so I kept testing it for a few more weeks. & just like that my life was easier & my skin was even happier than when I was using coconut oil. It’s never been so clear! Here is my skin routine with the washcloth now: Soak wash cloth in warm water, wipe my entire face, rinse the wash cloth in warm water again, go over my face once again just to double check that everything was removed, wash my face with my favorite charcoal bar soap, pat dry, apply night time cream [Favorite one of the moment here]. Done. That’s it. Of course some nights I will exfoliate & use face masks, but I will go over all of that in my updated skincare routine later.

Here are more of the claims of the washcloth listed on the website: “Remove smear-proof, waterproof makeup and mascara with The Original MakeUp Eraser®. Free of chemicals, this makeup remover gets rid of all types of makeup, including stage, sports, and theatrical makeup. Each cloth will last a thousand washes, and you only need to add warm water and then remove makeup. This ultra-soft, woven polyester-blend cloth gets rid of tough makeup without leaving behind a residue—just a fresh, healthy feeling.” I would never come on here & talk about my face wash cloth if I didn’t love it.. & I have to say it’s love. It’s so convenient, great for travel, easy to use, & my super sensitive skin loves it. Ok.. so that concludes this post about a wash cloth, but really I hope it helps some of you. I can’t tell you how many emails and comments I get daily about how my skincare routine has helped others get rid of their troubled skin & how it’s changed lives so there was NO WAY I could keep this little secret to myself because I know someone out there needs to throw away those chemical filled makeup wipes & use this more natural makeup remover. I hope this helps some of you out there. Have you tried this makeup remover wash cloth before? What do you think? How To Make Any Room Cozy

HOW TO MAKE ANY ROOM SUPER COZY & INVITING - A must pin to learn how to add a cozy element to any space.

Hi guys! One goal when decorating our home is to make it super cozy & inviting. One of the biggest compliments that I get is that our home looks cozy & that makes me so happy because to me every room in our home should be very cozy, warm, & inviting. We do not have the most perfect home by any means, but that doesn’t matter to me as long as every room feels like home & somewhere were I can fully relax and unwind. I want all our guests to feel welcomed & our family to love being in every room of the home. To me there are a few simple steps that come naturally to me to make every room in our home cozy & comfortable. There are of course many other ways to make a room cozy, but these are the tried & true ways that work for us that I just couldn’t keep to myself. Here are 10 tips that work for me…

  1. Add texture.
This can be done in SO MANY ways. Rugs, pillows, baskets, blankets, furniture, & more. For example mixing a wood coffee table, with a wicker basket, a few different texture pillows, some greenery, a chalkboard, & cozy throw adds so much texture which in turn makes the space so cozy.  I love having a basket in each room some to hold blankets & other items, I have a throw on every sofa to curl up with, rugs in each room to anchor the room, & of course a ton of pillows because I’m obsessed. Mixing textures like jute, grain sack, cotton, wool, metals, wicker, & more can instantly make a room feel cozier.. try it!!DSC_4847

  2. Add warmth.
Add warm tones to the room. This can be done with paint colors, accessories, & more. My favorite way to add warm tones to a space? With furniture. I love adding warm wood tones with end tables, coffee tables, & more. We all know I love my white decor so warm wood is a life savor when it comes to adding that cozy element.DSC_3997

  3. Bring nature inside.
I sometimes think I overdo this step a little, but I LOVE bringing greenery into our home. From magnolia wreaths, to simple ikea plants, & lovely branches. I am obsessed with faux greenery & I did a little post on where I get mine [here]. I do not have a green thumb at all so most of the plants in our home are faux. Plants add a homey feel, texture, & brighten a space up instantly.DSC_2415

  4.   Chalkboard.
This is kind of a strange one, but it works for me! If ever I feel like a space is too white or just needs a cozy element, adding a chalkboard seems to work for me. Something about adding that dark paint color & it’s imperfect finish adds a huge element to a room a whole lot of cozy. You could also do a whole wall in your home chalkboard if you are ambitious. Try it… it’s my little secret to making a space cozy. Here is a tutorial on how to make a large chalkboard for yourself [here].DSC_4849 (1)

  5. Excessive amounts of pillows.
I am a pillow hoarder & usually load up every single piece of furniture. This instantly makes any space look cozy & dreamy. Sometimes this can annoy people who look at our photos or some get intimidated by adding pillows because of the “room” issues, but in our home we sit on the pillows, toss them on the floor, hug them, squish them, & ware them out. The pillows at our house are meant to be used & to really be used for comfort. No pillow is safe around these parts. Here is a post I did recently about where I get some of my favorite pillows from [here].DSC_3838

  6. Add a rustic element or a million.
I LOVE good rustic antique or vintage find. We have many pieces around our house with chippy paint, rustic touches, & old charm. An antique piece of furniture or vintage find can instantly add a warm cozy touch to any room. I like adding antique touches to every corner to instantly make a space feel more cozy and more my style. Mix in some old elements with some new elements to create the perfect cozy blend. For example in our living room we combined a new ikea sofa with an antique side table & coffee table to create a cozy nook.DSC_4487

  7.  Paint a piece of furniture.
Sometimes by painting a piece of furniture & mixing it in with some natural wood & fabric pieces it can cozy up an area & make it more personal as well. I love painting a dresser or nightstand to freshen up a spot in our home & make it more cozy. When your space feels more like you it will feel more cozy.DSC_0715
    DSC_4781 (1)
  8. Lighting.
Candles & lamps can really make a room feel more inviting. There is something about curling up with a candle burning & a soft glow from a lamp that just makes you feel at home. I love the light from a lamp better than a ceiling light sometimes because it’s less harsh & often times softer. In our house we usually have a candle burning every night as well because we love our house smelling good & enjoy the ambiance of the flame as well. Try it!DSC_2876DSC_2328-1
  9. Rugs.
A cozy textured rug can really transform a space into a relaxing & inviting area. I love natural fiber rugs in our home like [these] from Rugs USA. We have all wood floors in our so in our living areas and our dining area I added rugs & it makes the spaces warmer & cozier by adding texture & a great place to lay. A rug really anchors a room & creates that homey feel by bringing every element in the space together.DSC_2606-1

  10. Add some books.
Lastly is kind of a strange one, but I was sitting here with Mr. LMB & I asked him what makes a room cozy & his answer was books. I hadn’t really thought of that one & he’s right! I add books to almost every room & other than being inviting because it makes you want to curl up and read, but it also adds color, texture, & sometimes, if the book is old, a rustic element to the space.DSC_3864

I hope these 10 points helped showed  you a few ways you can make any room in your home cozy. It’s really simple & my biggest passion when it comes to decorating. Cozy spaces are my favorite! I could go on about cozy spaces, but if I say that word one more time I will even annoy myself, but I truly do hope this helped some of you. If you have any questions let me know & I would love to do another blog post on this topic. Let me know if this post helped you at all & share with me some ways you like to make spaces cozy in the comments below, on Facebook, & on Instagram. Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by my blog today & for always coming back to read my posts. It means a lot! xx

DIY Epsom Salt Bath Soak

I have been a little stressed lately, maybe one day I will be able to talk about why, but for now just know that you are not alone in your stress & I have something to help today! When I’m stressed I like to focus on some “me time” & pampering because when my nails are painted & I don’t have paint in my hair for once I just feel a little better about my life. Today I wanted to share one of the things I make every few months to use in my weekly baths. I make DIY epsom salt bath soak & I’m a little obsessed with it. It is one of the easiest things to do, but since I use it so much I had to share with you guys.

DIY epsom salt bath soak - great recipes for detoxifying epsom salt soak. A must pin for relaxing & calming bath soaks the natural way!

The first batch of bath salts I made were DIY calming lavender bath salts that I love the most. I am so obsessed with anything lavender so these are my favorite. Making a big batch of lavender bath salts is a must for me & as soon as I run out I’m making another big batch so I don’t have to go without. To make them I simply either use regular epsom salt [here] or lavender epsom salt [here]. I like pouring the whole bag into a glass container with a lid or an open bucket [as shown]. After the epsom salt is poured into the container I mix in real lavender buds [you can buy here]. This isn’t completely necessary, but the smell is brought to a whole new level when you use the buds & to me it just makes for a more calming experiences. I also will put in a few drops of lavender oil into the salts & mix it in. I got all my oils from Marshalls. They seem to always have some in their bath & body section, but you can also find some [here]. All of this combined makes the most calming lavender bath salts. I add about a cup to my bath and sit in it for about 20 min usually listening to a podcast or audible book & I escape any stress I have at the moment.

Another recipe I LOVE using is a more invigorating yet calming one & this is great for another option & for those of you who do not enjoy lavender. I use the eucalyptus & spearmint epsom salts [here] & I mix in a few essential oils into the mix as well. This one is super simple & customizable to your needs & wants, but I typically use lemon & rosemary essential oils in this mixture because they are great for clearing your mind. But you can find the oil combo you love most & mix in the bath salts the ones that you love the most. You can also use unscented epsom salts & mix in your own essential oil combo you love as well.

Some of the many benefits of soaking in epsom salt in the tub for 20 minutes. Now some of them I don’t necessarily notice, but I know that after I use the salt soak in my tub I do feel a lot better. Also a pro tip:  mix some epsom salt in your shampoo in your hand & rub in your hair for more full body. It gets rid of the oils in your hair & really deep cleans so you get voluminous hair when it dries. Do this once a week for super clean locks. Epsom salt really does it all.

There are so many benefits to soaking in epsom salts which I like because my baths are now dual purpose because I’m being healthy as I’m relaxing. Makes me feel more productive than I really am. I love the detoxifying benefits as well as the reducing inflamation purpose after a long day on my feet or a long day of junkin’. Epsom salts in my bath have really been life changing just because they make my bath more of an experience & it’s really helped reduce stress. I love keeping a big metal bucket of these next to my tub so I can easily just scoop some into my bath. This is a simple thing you can have in your bathroom that not only looks pretty & smells pretty, but also is super useful & a little life changing. I wanted to share this for any of you who have had any stress lately like me & I hope this helps you! Do you use epsom salts in your bath? What’s your favorite recipe? I would LOVE to hear your thoughts & routines!  Let me know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by my blog today. xx

The Best Grain Sack Pillows

A great source for excellent quality grain sack pillows - a must pin for farmhouse style & cottage style authentic grain sack pillows.
I wanted to answer a question today that I get asked all the time! I actually don’t know why I haven’t done this post sooner, but here it is finally. & actually this post is on a whim & I didn’t even let the small handmade company that I was posting about them today so this is exciting. It all started over a year ago or maybe even longer when I was searching for some grain sack pillows. I stumbled upon this shop on Etsy [here] & I was floored. I could tell by the photos that the pillows were good quality & I was in love with every single pillow. I was sold. It was the first time that I was spending a little more on pillows so I held my breath until they came in the mail that they would be worth it. It took a while for shipping, but honestly it wasn’t that bad considering the pillow covers were coming from Romania. When I opened them I was in shock. I’m not one to notice or be picky about high quality pillows, but the grain sack pillows I ordered from Madreana made me feel like one high class lady with my new pillows. Since then I have ordered a bunch from her & they are all over our home. It’s one of my my FAQ’s I get a lot about where I get my grain sack pillows so I hope this helps some of you who are on the hunt for some like I was last year. Here are some quick photos I took around our house today of some of the grain sack pillows we have..

The long lumbar pillows are the 46.5″ pillows in her shop. I simply put a $9 body pillow from Target in them & I love how large they are. These are my favorite pillows from her shop just because they are so unique. Again, I can’t emphasize the quality. I have other grain sack pillows and they are nothing like these. I could go on, but I’ll stop there. I’m obsessed with these pillows so I had to share my source with you guys. I suggest looking on Etsy [here] for other handmade shops for grain sack pillows, but Madreana takes the cake for me for sure. Let her know I sent you & I should probably go tell her that I wrote this post about her & officially introduce myself to her as the crazy girl in Michigan who is obsessed with her & hoards all her pillows. Hi! I hope you guys enjoyed this post & I hope it helps you find some grain sack pillows if you were looking for some. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today & thank you for sharing this post with your friends & family who you think would love it.
