I had plans to share with you something going on with our farmhouse on the blog tonight, but today I spent my time doing something else creative so instead I decided to share that. You see, I love being creative in our home & our shop, but it’s so fun to break out & do other creative endeavors & I thought I would share what I did today because it for sure pushed me in other creative directions than I’m used to. Today me & the other two amazing owners of The Found Cottage joined the Bloom work shop for a styled shoot workshop. Our store was asked to create a vignette for the styled wedding shoot & that we did. Us three owners picked out a few items from our store & created a fun vignette filled with lovely florals & desserts. Don’t laugh, even though it was a day to be creative, I still only managed to snap some iphone photos because with all the sweating of lifting furniture I wasn’t really feeling like hauling the big guns out…
We styled this little vignette with things that we typically carry in our store like these large handmade arches from Feather & Birch, vintage lamps from Fabric Scout Studio, & vintage furniture & finds from more of our vendors. Those bridal bags are such a fun item at our shop & are super popular.. I kind of want them in other words too like “Girl Boss” or something fun like that? But the bridal one was perfect for this wedding vignette today. Bloom Floral brought all of these amazing botanicals today in our vignette & I was floored by her creativity & use of everyday things like fruit in her arrangements.
The dining vignette was put on by West Elm & Spring Sweet which is my new obsession. Her name is literally Spring Sweet & that is also the name of her shop, how cool is that? I mean my blog is named after me, but it doesn’t compare to Spring Sweet am I right? The place that the event was at was called the Felt Mansion in Holland Michigan & it was simply stunning. The bedrooms were all adorable, the third floor had a stunning ball room, The wall paper in the entire mansion was to die for, & the grounds of the mansion were something dreams are made of. There was also the cutest chapel on the grounds that made me want to renew my vows right then and there. It was all a dreamy & very inspiring location which made the day quite fun.
So that’s it. Well, it isn’t it, but it’s a glimpse into my creative day that I had today. I’m not a wedding planner, designer, or photographer, but it was fun exploring that avenue especially with my ladies from The Found Cottage. I hope you know that I didn’t go into this with confidence & thinking that I knew exactly what I was doing. I wanted to share that with you so that it may inspire you to step our of your comfort zone creatively & try something new. It may not lead anywhere new, but it will help you grow creatively & it’s bound to teach you something about yourself. Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today & be sure to find me on Facebook & Instagram to catch more behind the scenes. xx
We went to a wedding there a few years ago…and it was beautiful. Hydrangeas were the decor for the most part. The couple used the fountain area and walk way for their ceremony, not the chapel. The home is gorgeous and when you rent the place they let you use the various bedrooms for your dressing rooms. Each one is decorated differently but all the same era. The original wall coverings have been carefully restored along with the beautiful wood floors etc. My favorite room was the library…huge bookcases to the ceiling made from mahagony….I could go on. I love what you all did with the place and the arrangements are fabulous. I am dying for a piece of that cake or 3 or 4 cupcakes! Thanks for sharing another one of your many talents.
