There is one plant that is really nostalgic to our marriage. Nope, it’s not our wedding flowers, its a plant that grew bountifully where we lived in the south. Cotton. Every fall when the cotton would bloom Jose and I would take long drives by the cotton fields which resembled snow covered pieces of land. Cotton fields are in the top 10 things I miss about living in the south since moving back to Michigan. Now every time I see something with cotton it brings back so many great memories & some of the things I even have to get for our home like a few cotton stems & these framed vintage cotton prints that I’ve had shoved in a closet for over a year that I finally found a spot for in our dining room….
I picked these cotton prints up at our shop, The Found Cottage, even before I had a place for them. Apparently it took me over a year to find a place, but I think this little corner in our dining room seems like a great place to hang them. I’ve wanted to bring in more black accents into our home & I think this is a great place to start in this room with the rustic black frames. Before I hung these prints this weekend I kind of tore apart this whole corner & simplified it… there was so much on top of that cabinet, but I kind of wanted it to be more simple and relaxed looking so here we are…
Here is a photo that my friend Rachael took of Jose & I one time in the middle of a cotton field in NewBern North Carolina when we lived there… I’m so thankful that we have this memory captured of a special moment in one of our favorite places…
I think these photos go well in our 1800’s farmhouse & go perfectly with our cozy cottage farmhouse vibe that we have in here. These prints make me so happy every time I walk by them now & bring back such great memories. What do you guys think of them? Have you ever seen a cotton field in real life before? I wish we could grow it here in Michigan because I would make a mini cotton field on our farm in a heart beat! I’m excited to add more black accents to our decor & I like the way these framed cotton prints added that dark vintage vibe to this space. Let me know what you think of them in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. xx
I love the cotton prints !!! Do you have these for sale in your shop ? Thanks
I also was mesmerized by the cotton fields, seeing them for the first time that I can remember, as we drove from my daughter’s house in Senoia, GA, to Panama City Beach. Traveling through AL, I couldn’t believe all the cotton blown alongside the roads…looked like snow. I had my husband pull over to take pictures and to pick up cotton ha. ?
