Y’all 30 wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. Just kidding, but really. My 30th birthday was pretty great. If you follow me on social media, you know why it was so good. Jose surprised me with a new puppy. A great pyrenees name Winnie. She has brought so much joy to our farm already in just two short days & I’m just still in shock that she is ours. I mean, we haven’t really slept since getting her either which has been rough, but her cute face is so worth it. I’ll talk more about her later, but for now I WOULD LOVE for you guys to head to my Instagram & Facebook to join in on the convo because I asked a lot of new puppy questions. I will blog more about Winnie later, but every year on my birthday here on the blog I share my age number in facts… so this year it’s 30. 30 random things about me that you might not care about, but might tell you a little something about me. Ya’ll it’s getting hard because I try to share different ones every year so coming up with 30 on no sleep today was a little hard, BUT I hope in some way this gives you a little random insight into me, Liz Marie. Enjoy!!!
1. I’m a true introvert that gets truly exhausted by being social situations… but I also don’t want to be left out. It’s a problem I struggle with daily… I know I can’t be alone on this.
2. I am forever changing things in our house. I have tried to narrow down why I always have that urge & one of the reasons I think I do that is because decorating & re-decorating are like therapy to me.
3. I have always dreamed about having a self sustaining farm. I might have to become a vegetarian because I’ll never eat one of our animals, but I want to live off our land.
4. I feel about 24 so the fact that people keep telling me I’m 30 blows my mind. Who allowed me to be an adult.. not sure I will ever feel my age.
5. I’m determined to be a plant lady. I even joined a garden club this year.
6. I went to interior design school, but very quickly found out that my passion did not lie in doing large scale design projects for others. I wanted to more inspire online, offer design advice, & be a part of smaller projects. I still don’t regret going to school for it because the passion has always been in me & it just grew that for me.
7. Blogging is truly my passion & I hope to do it forever & ever. I hope you like it here too.
8. I dream of turning our barn into some kind of event space.
9. When I was little I would use disposable cameras to take photos of my bedroom & then I would get the photos printed & put them in scrap books. You could say that I have been “blogging” since I was 7. My mom was never happy when I waisted an entire roll of film on photos of my bedroom.. hey mom, it paid off. haha
10. I have & always have had an obsession with all things Beatrix Potter. My grandma started me on the obsession as she always had the books & always talked to me about them.
11. I listen to about 2-3 audible books a week.
12. I’m also a podcast junkie. Preferably true crime.
13. I have a thing for deconstructed furniture.. always have. We have 4 pieces in our home right now & they are so comfortable & I love the look.
14. I believe in slipcovering all of the things.
15. Jose and I went gluten free 5 years ago for my PCOS & have never regretted it. I do miss quesadillas & other foods, but trust me… we manage.
16. Along with being an introvert I get super nervous in front of the camera… trying to work on that. Who get’s nervous to Instagram story? This girl. I need to work on that.
17. I need all the rooms in our home to be light & bright. My mood is a product of my surroundings… so light & bright is my need in all of our spaces!
18. I describe my decor style as Cozy Cottage Greenhouse.
19. Jose & I have been on our infertility journey for 6 years & we have lost 7 babies. I hope our 30’s brings children into our life. You can read more about our journey [HERE].
20. I have a real pillow obsession. It’s a problem sometimes.
21. I would be thrilled if I could go antiquing/picking at least once a week.
22. I never leave the house without mascara. Call it an insecurity.. call it unnecessary. I call it being courteous to others around me. haha it’s a habit that I’m not sure I will ever break.
23. I literally need coffee to function in the morning. It’s a must.
24. You will most likely find me barefoot if it’s appropriate. Or not sometimes.
25. Somethings Got To Give is one o fly all-time favorite movies.
26. I don’t like breakfast. I know… weird. I just don’t eat it. Or need it.
27. I have PCOS. You can read about that [HERE].
28. I ALWAYS have to have a drink on me at all times… soda, water, coffee, some of them are bad habits, but a drink is my security blanket.
29. Christoper Lowell was my idol growing up. With all of this tassels. I wasn’t the kid watching cartoons, I was the kid watching HGTV, Trading Spaces, & Christoper Lowell. He really liked his tassels didn’t he? I would still love to meet him in person.
30. My favorite all time getaway is Mackinaw Island. Some get it. Some don’t. I’m obsessed. My goal? One day to stay at The Grand Hotel on the island.
Ok… those were SUPER random, but fun I hope!! THANK YOU GUYS for all the birthday love you showed me over the weekend.. I don’t deserve you guys, the love, you guys coming to the blog everyday, stopping by my Instagram & other social media’s, BUT I AM SO THANKFUL!! THANK YOU for being here. Love you guys!!
Happy birthday Liz! I have followed you for more years than i can remember.. and i always look forward to your random facts! I hope you had a wonderful day. Welcome to your 30s!
Happy Birthday Liz. Start of a new decade for you. I wish you lots of love and happiness. Oh I just adore your new furbaby x
Most of them sound like me but not 30! Havent been that age in a long long time. Puppy is adorable! Jose did good! Happy Birthday and enjoy your 30″s
Hey Liz so you The Grand Hotel offers some really sweet deals in the fall. I got to eat in there dining room for dinner once and had cordials on the porch at sunset. It was awesome!
We always love getting to know you more. Thank you for sharing! Where do you go to listen to/download the audio books and podcasts you listen to?
Omg Christopher Lowell was the best lol!! I love that you used to take pictures of your room all the time 🙂
Happy Birthday to my sweet niece of 30 years!!! I can’t believe it…I could add a few more wonderful things on your list so if at 40 you run out, let me know ! Congrats on the puppy ! She is so adorable and I can’t wait to meet her! LOVE big dogs and she looks like she is going to grow into those paws ! See you soon! LOVE YOU !
Miss LizMarie, Happy 30! You never feel your age…I’m almost 57(wow, really, that was hard to write) and feel like I’m 30, lol! Do not be to hard on Miss Winnie…being a Great Pyrenees, she’s nocturnal and a protector, so she will be great for Grace and your flock when she gets older! On staying at the Grand Hotel…yes, a must! It was a dream of mine, too… We finally stayed there for our 25th wedding anniversary. Drinks on the grand porch and cupola bar (the views!!!), dressing for dinner, dancing with the big band and an unforgettable brunch Sunday morning. We used to visit every trip, but never stayed until our 25th. We live in Tennessee now and our guest room is dubbed the Mackinac Room, but is not decorated in quite the same way as a Grand Hotel room! (Stay and you’ll understand). Blessings for a wonderful year!!!
I loved hearing about the 30 random things about you. Some people would call me an introvert because I’m pretty social but on all the tests I took, I’m really an introvert. I need to come home and unwind and decompress after being in social situations. I’m obsessed with HGTV and changing things in my decor too. So glad that you love blogging and being on Instagram because I love both! You have created such a gorgeous space on your farm! I love your new puppy and those big cute puppy feet! I hope and pray that you and Jose will be able to create a beautiful family together. In the meantime, you sure have some wonderful animals on the farm! You are absolutely gorgeous and I would never know that you aren’t comfortable in front of the camera because you are such a natural!
Robin, I’m 62 and definitely feel much younger. I would love to stay at the Grand Hotel one day! I’ve only been to Macknaw Island once and I’m a mitten gal!
Sweet girl. Do not ever say you don’t deserve us (or anything) for that is to doubt God and His gifts to you. You deserve everything He has given you, and everything He has in store for you.
Is your precious pup a rescue?
Happy birthday! 30 is big! It’s crazy how it happens and yet you still feel like you’re in your 20s… Ok so I loved Christopher Lowell, too! I remember him always saying, “Like so,” 100x an episode when he was showing the viewers how to do something haha. And your puppy is so cute! I hope you get some sleep soon 🙂
Love this, Liz! Your new puppy is so cute. One of my all time favorite movies is Something’s Got to Give, also! And thanks for the reminder about the Christopher Lowell Show! I just had to go watch some old episodes on YouTube! Haha..
Liz! I have been reading your blog for awhile, but never commented! Your Christopher Lowell comment has me laughing out loud!!! I used to watch that show all the time!! Tassels and ACRYLIC LIFTS AND LEVELS!!!!
Happy Birthday Liz! Thanks for all you share with us! Your puppy is precious. Our puppies stopped barking so much at night once they were comfortable at our home…within a week. And the potty training….huge. The main thing I remember is being consistent and taking them out potty ALOT and saying Go Potty. It didn’t take long and they mastered it. You just have to keep by their little sides when they are awake. Or being in their crate, which makes them feel secure. I’m sure your puppy feels lots of love from you both!!
I loved Christopher Lowell!!! Yes, he did love his tassels! What ever happened to him? And Lynette Jennings and Kitty Bartholomew!!!
Are you a fellow Michigan creative blogger AND a fellow Murderino?!
happy birthday! i have been saying that about mackinaw for years! the. best. ever!!! alot of people don’t get it but i’m obsessed too! ???
Wishing you a belated Happy Birthday Liz Marie! The best is yet to come!
I, too, love Christopher Lowell! I used to watch him all the time! I especially loved what he could do with a bolt of muslin and a staple gun! He was brilliant – I learned so much from his show and I miss him!
Happy birthday Lizmarie! 30 is a woderfull place!
Regarding #30, The Grand Hotel is amazing. We vacationed there several years back. Definitely a Moment in Time. From the time you board the ferry and cross over. Luggage loaded at the dock and carried by antique wagon and beautiful horses up hill to the hotel..
Lilac season is best and you will never be dissapointed. It is pricy but stay for more than a night. Maybe three? You will get there. I would do it again in a minute. Have a wonderful 30th yeat.
Happy Birthday, sweet Liz Marie! I enjoy your posts and blog. Thank you for everything you do. Cheers to being 30!
Happy birthday!! Somethings Got To Give is one of my all time favs too. #housegoals. I love the actors but could watch it over and over just for her house!!!!
Happy belated birthday! It’s scary how many things on your list I answered ‘me!’ on!
Including the introvert/but doesn’t want to be left out, the drink in my hand, Christopher Lowell–I could identify with A LOT. When I was little I loved Barbies, but mostly because I loved designing and re-designing their homes. I also loved to rearrange my room, all the time! I agree that it is like therapy for me! I can’t explain it, but it brings such satisfaction!
Happy birthday beautiful lady! I love your blog. I too am praying that God blesses you with a baby soon!
xoxo
