Where do I start with todays post? This is a weird one. So, it starts out that I bought a sign. I bought an antique sign off of Etsy that I found one night while browsing for my “Favorite Small Shops” post. It just came in today & I had to share it with you because the whole process & sign are very interesting. It all started a long time ago when I started looking for a chippy sign for our kitchen. I looked and looked and looked & just couldn’t find the real deal. So, I did a little search on Etsy & came up with this shop[shop this etsy shop with my affiliate links] that made reproductions. I didn’t do much research of the shop.. I just ordered & this is what I got….
So here is the sign that we ordered from this shop [HERE]. They make tons of custom signs like this one in different variations like this one that we have hanging in our kitchen now. We wanted to include our farm name so we chose “White Cottage Farm Delicatessen” for our sign with the words “Farm to table. Fresh Honey. & Fresh Vegetables.” On the bottom of the sign. This is the exact sign that we had customized [HERE] for those of you who want to order one for your homes.
Honestly this sign is pretty great for a reproduction canvas. That’s right.. this sign is a print on canvas. The shop allowed us to customize the sign with our farm name & everything else & this is what it turned out as. In fact everything in their shop is pretty customizable which is a cool feature to have. Pretty good. Now, as many of you know I own a shop here in Michigan where we deal with boutique home decor, but also a lot of vintage and antiques. I like the real deal. I’m one that I’ll have a reproduction until I find the real thing & then I replace it. BUT I just couldn’t find the real deal sign… and I wanted one now. So, back to this Etsy shop & the sign. Overall? I’m happy with it. When you aren’t right up on it.. it looks pretty legit. I did a poll on My IG yesterday [HERE] & 92% of the people said they would think it was authentic.. that’s pretty good folks for a repo & the fact that people that follow me on IG are really smart. THE ONLY CONS: 1. it’s a wrapped canvas so the sides are black and you can see that it’s perfectly square & a wrapped canvas. Of course again, it still looks pretty authentic & there are ways to make it look more rough if you DIY it, but wanted to mention that. 2. You have to approve the sign before it ships & I MISSED A MIS-SPELLED WORD! DON’T BE LIKE ME!! Yup, vegetables on this sign is spelled wrong. My solution? Put a plant in front of it and no one will ever know. Other than that… this sign is great.
The sign is above a vintage rolling rack by the grill area of our kitchen… Yes, we have a grill in our kitchen that the previous owners put in & it’s quite amazing to have up here in Michigan. We installed two barn doors over the grill this week [I’ll share those more later once we finish them up] & this sign I just hung today was one of those big things this space needed… art on the walls. The shelf isn’t going to be styled like this, but you know I had to make it pretty for the photos for you guys. This shelf will actually be holding grilling & cooking items… I’ll share how we style those in a later post when we get that all done.
But for now I must know from you… What do you think of the sign? Would you get a reproduction sign like this? Have you? Let me know what you think!!! Also, head to my Instagram to see video of this sign up close & some other funny things that happened with it. I can’t wait to hear what you think of it!! Are you going to order one for your home? If you do.. be sure to tag me when you get it!! I would love to see it! Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today & everyday to see what we are up to! xx

Ps. This post may contain some affiliate links, but as always all the opinions are my very own! Thank you for supporting my little blog.. it means the world to me! xx
Soooo awesome! Looks great and very vintage! I love it and yes I would absolutely order one if I had the wall space but sadly mine is very limited. I actually kinda like that vegetables isn’t spelled correctly, alot of people wouldn’t even notice because alot of peeple can’t spell very good! (See what I did there?) I look forward to your blog everyday Liz just to see what you have in store for us. ?
Hi Liz, what size did you choose?
looks great!!
It photographs really well. Looks great in that spot. But the canvas would deter me from ordering.
Alot isn’t a word. 😀 A lot is two words. Speaking of misspellings.
I already put in my cart.
I love the sign! Custom ! Thats great and as for the misspelled word.. it makes a great conversation! Makes it different! One of a kind! I will have to check them out! I just LOVE your kitchen and house!
I’m a huge fan of antique signs but I love this one! It looks fabulous in your beautiful farmhouse!
I don’t see anything for sale….
Honestly I am just over this sign already. I’ve been a follower of yours for quite some time and this is the first time I think I am just sick of seeing a certain post. Let me explain- I felt as if you were blaming the maker of this sign when it was your mistake. You didn’t read the fine print about it being made on canvas and you also didn’t proof read the “vegetables” error. From your tone in the Instagram stories it sounded as if you were annoyed at the Etsy shop owner but sorry, it was your error. And now I get the vibe that you love sign (which I hope you do because looks like an authentic vintage piece), and you’re recommending this with affiliate links. So what’s the verdict?
I would hope that after reading your nice review, they will send you a new sign…I sure would if I owned a company!
God bless you girl!
This post had an undertone of snark. You misspelled the word so you have to live with it. And you probably got the sign for free, or heavily discounted. Guess you can’t jack up the price and resell it! #firstworldproblems
Hi, Liz! Love your style! Nice review of the sign, but I’m more interested in the vintage rolling rack. I would love to find one, only it would need to by 36″ wide for my space, any ideas on where to look? Maybe this could be another blog post? 🙂
