Hi friends!! Today I wanted to share a topic and answer some of the questions I get asked about almost weekly… FARMHOUSE SINKS! I get a ton of questions about our farmhouse sink & whether or not we love it. I totally get why people ask because they are for sure more of an investment rather than your average sink. So, today I wanted to help and make an entire post dedicated to our farmhouse sink FAQ’s & why we LOVE it.
Yes, that’s right, we LOVE our farmhouse sink. There are a lot of different farmhouse sinks [aka apron sinks] out on the market, but we have this one [HERE] & have put it in two of our homes because we love it so much. Our farmhouse sink is scratch proof, stain proof, & perfect for our rugged farm life. We wash babies, dogs, & much more in this sink & I’ve never regretted buying it one bit. I asked on Instagram [HERE] for some questions about the sink & I gathered up the most popular ones to answer here today. If you have anymore ask them below!! I hope this post helps & as always… THANK YOU for stopping by the blog daily to see what we are up to!

What material is our farmhouse sink? It’s actually what the company calls “fireclay” which you can read about [HERE]. Additionally, it’s super durable and scratch & stain resistant which makes for a very low maintenance sink that I don’t need to be careful with.
Does it scratch? NO!!! That’s the beauty of this baby! It is made from a durable material that is scratch and stain resistant… you can live your daily life with it and no worry about any of that.
What is the brand of the sink? The sink is an Elkay Fireclay sink[HERE]. I highly recommend this apron sink because it’s the most durable & this is the second home we have put it in
What is the brand of the faucet? The faucet was a popular question when I asked you guys on Instagram. We love it & you can find it [HERE].

Do you wish you had a split sink? Not one bit! This made me so nervous when we were purchasing the sink, but I have never missed having a divided sink one bit. The sink is so large that I feel like it’s actually more practical for our lifestyle this way.
How do you clean it? The sprayer on the faucet is super handy since it’s such a large open basin sink so I highly recommend getting a faucet with a sprayer if you are going to go with a farmhouse sink. Since the sink doesn’t scratch you can use scrubbiest, sponges, cloths or anything to clean with. I’m not sure if this is right, but I use my counter spray to clean the sink daily & once or twice a week I will use bar keepers friend and a sponge to deep clean the sink.
Do you break things in it? I’ve never ever broken anything in the sink… and if someone was going to, it would be me.
How do you wash dishes? My simple method: Pile up dirty dishes on left side of the sink. Grab one dish at a time and wash over sink filled with minimal soap and water. Rinse the dish over the soapy water. Bring to right side of the sink to dry. Or, I put them in the dishwasher.

Was it hard matching it to your cabinets? Our cabinets are the whitest white that Holiday Cabinets has to offer and the sink matches perfectly.
Does Cope take a bath in the sink? YES! & so do the dogs. Here is the bath tub we place in the sink for Cope’s bath [HERE]
What size is your sink? 28 1/16 by 18 1/4
Does the sink drain well? Yes perfectly well! Someone wrote in saying there’s drained horribly… So, I would for sure check into the plumbing & make sure that’s all properly laid out.

Ok, I will be adding more sink FAQ’s on here as they are asked, so be sure to ask them below or find me on Instagram [HERE] & ask there. Thank you guys for always coming to the blog for design help & inspiration… it means the world to me! xx
