Ok, last night I was doing my favorite activity of styling shelves. I was working on the shelves in the dining room last night when I decided I wanted to add fall decor to them, since we are heading into that season. Of course when I was doing the shelf styling I was in all of my thoughts & I kept going back to something that I get asked often “How do I easily add fall to our home with little effort” I got you covered. As I was styling the shelves I had a flood of passion that I had to share with you that seasonal decor, though I do go overboard a lot, CAN BE SIMPLE! It doesn’t have to be elaborate to ooze the cozy vibes of fall & it truly can just take you 10 minutes to do in a room…

Here are 3 Simple Tips to easily bring fall into your home:
1- Bring it back to basics
Strip the space down you are working on. That is usually my first step to giving anything a makeover er & it helps clear you mind & give you a blank slate to work with. You can make a small pile of the stuff to pick from when you are decorating the space over again or store it for another season all together in a closet, attic, or any other storage space. Tip: Only buy pillow covers & use the same pillow inserts every season to cut back on needed storage space.

2- Make it subtle
I think these shelves in the dining room and this fall space is the PERFECT example of subtle fall decor. One bowl of pumpkins & then just using our everyday items throughout the space that evoke those cozy fall feels is all you need. In this room the green & white pumpkins are carried around and mesh with all of our pops of green and white in our everyday items styled on the shelves. It doesn’t have to be orange, red, or pumpkins everywhere to be fall decor. But of course it can be if that’s your vibe, my point is… don’t do too much, work with what you have!

3- Use what you have
Don’t go out and buy all the things!! Do you have pillows lying around that give cozy fall vibes when mixed with the right thing? Do you have fall decor from last year that can be re-used or re-purposed? Can you DIY a fall sign or fall decor like tassle garland and more? Before you buy it… DIY or find it! This includes foliage in your yard! Foliage from your yard or nearby field is a green way to add fall to vases, centerpieces, & more.

This dining room of ours got a quick 10 minute fall makeover yesterday & it was honestly the most simple thing, but it instantly makes the whole space ready for the new season. A bowl of pumpkins & some simple greens make it fall! It doesn’t have to be over complicated to bring your home into fall & a lot of times we overthink things or think that we need to spend a ton of money or a ton of time making elaborate displays. Stop doing that. Simple is sometimes best & allows for more time enjoying your family & your cozy home. -Liz Marie

Lovely! And very much my style right now! I have a storage tote of fall decor and I use less every year! I plan to gather some wood bowls and boards, and scatter some green and white pumpkins, pinecones and tree branches. I am very excited to pull out my collection of fall and Halloween children’s books to put in a big floor basket in the living room this year to read with our sweet grandbaby!
Is the “tree” in the crock on your table live or is it a faux tree. Where might I find one?
I love love love this. I think more then ever I am looking to create simple fall decor in our home. Thank you for sharing all of these tips with us.
I am loving the green and white! Thank you for sharing Liz! Xoxo
I love the faux pumpkins, squash and gourds. I have glass, metal and faux pumpkins. Our granddaughter is 4 this year. I like to put things where she can touch and feel. Our screened porch is perfect for that. This is something you will think about in the future. Maybe your tote that can be used to collect pumpkins? It only takes a second to put them back and kids love it. Let Cope enjoy his home and the decorations around him. I do not have thing that have to be put away when K visits but love to decorate for the seasons.
The room is not hampered by the dark ceiling. White ceiling brought it all together. Stunning. ?
Yes! Less is more! Beautiful!
I have to say, I’ve been smiling at that sweet little boy’s face and not paying attention to the directing tips. LOL! I will go back and start over. 🙂
