Cope’s six month birthday has come and gone… and everyone always tells us that it goes by so fast– they certainly are not wrong. Recently I shared a photo on instagram, giving a sneak peak at Cope’s room and crib. I snuck the photo during one of his naps, and received a lot of messages regarding how he sleeps. We are finishing up his room and are getting ready to do a full nursery tour, but felt like we wanted to share something to help ease the minds of new parents, like us, during your babies sleep, to hopefully keep everyone sleeping through the night.

Around three or four months, Cope started flipping over in his baby crib, and sleeping on his belly most the night. He does flip to his back, but most of the night he sleeps on his belly, with his cute little booty in the air and arms tucked underneath. I can remember the very first night Jose and I woke up to him like this and about had a heart attack… I mean he was sleeping on his belly. We read and did all the planning to ensure he had a safe sleep, only him on his baby mattress and nothing else. But I can tell you how the fast my heart stopped when I looked over to see him like that. Jose and I tried to flip him back over but that would only last a few minutes until he would flip right back over. We seriously watched him sleep all night to make sure he was okay… he was of course. We consulted with our Doctor and did some more research and essentially came to the first parent realization is that, once they can easily flip over they are fine… but it still worries us a bit.

Seeing our photo, and watching the conversation and comments, Newton Baby reached out to help settle our fears and give us a little more peace of mind. See the Newton Baby mattress is a 100% breathable mattress, that is also washable. They call it, Breath-Thru technology, allowing air to freely flow through the mattress due to the mattress being made up of wovenair material. … so on top of reducing the risk of suffocation, it also helps with temperature regulatory, something Cope needs, because he is a serious hot-box all night.

Cope has been sleeping on it now fore two weeks, and I can tell you we are so much more at ease at night. He still is doing his dream feed, but feel like his is sleeping so much better on this baby mattress than the one we had before. We are still working on solidifying our bedtime routine, but we can see him falling asleep much faster, and knowing that he is on a more breathable crib mattress, we aren’t doing the new parent, “its been an hour, I’m going to peak on him” thing as much…

We look forward to using this mattress more, and provide you a deeper review as Cope continues to use it and grow with it. For those new parents out there, like us, we hope this can come in handy when you are looking for your crib mattress. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today and every other day, and helping Jose and I navigate this new parent role. XxLiz Marie

Liz,
This boy melts my heart every single time you post his sweet face.
Lynsey
He seems to be just the happiest baby I’ve ever seen. He sure is one cutie. As a parent and grandmother, not to mention faithful reader of your blood, I am so happy for you. Both my stepmother and half-sister (who I consider simply a sister tho I’m 20 years older) had fertility problems. Both adopted. After adopting, both ended up having children of their own. I know you both love children so who know what could happen in your future. Enjoy your little guy, your sweet husband, and that wonderful dog of yours. So thrilled life is going your way!
whoa, just read this over — after posting, of course. should read “…reader of your blog….” but you knew that.
I am so happy for you to have finally realized your dream of having a baby. Please do Copeland the favor of not featuring him on your blog, particularly when it comes to advertisements. I know you need to make a buck, but please, please reconsider using a minor. Again, I am so happy for you. Having gone though multiple pregnancies losses, I can unfortunately relate. Please read up on the topic of children in the blogosphere.
I can not believe it has been six months, how time flies. He is so cute and such a happy baby, so very happy for you and Jose, what a wonderful journey you will have with Cope and take lots of pictures and make wonderful memories, God Bless all.
Such a Beautiful baby you are both so Blessed.
The nursery is simply adorable you are amazing!
I am in the process of getting a room ready for a first grandchild. Fell in love with your rabbit art, may I ask where you found it, it would be perfect above our crib! thanks so much
