Recently I’ve been seeing a light shade trend resurface that I’m really excited about. By now I’m sure you know that trends are just ever recycling. What was once super popular will come back around in the cycle. While they change ever slightly, the core of the trend stays the same. Today I’m talking about petticoat shades. A petticoat shade is a ruffled shape, oftentimes milk glass lampshade that gets its name from a women’s petticoat undergarment that was worn in the 14th century. The lampshade takes on the same ruffled look of the petticoat skirt and that is how it received its name. The petticoat shade in home decor has recently started to resurface and I’m really a fan of how i’ve started seeing it styled. That is why I wanted to focus on them for my scroll stoppers blog post.
If this is your first time checking out a scroll stopper’s blog post of mine, you may be wondering what a scroll stopper is. Each week, I share a set of images that I have been inspired by and have stopped me mid-scroll in hopes that they also inspire you in some way. If you would like to see past week’s scroll stoppers, click here [HERE]. For now, let’s check out 5 petticoat shade scroll stoppers.

I’ve seen petticoat shades in many different rooms and spaces. However, the most common space to house them it seems is the kitchen. @zioandsons shares this corner with a unique brass petticoat shade and I really enjoy the pop of color that it is giving.

2.
That light that peers into this kitchen space by @ourgrowingstorey is so welcoming. I quiet little space to gather and collect yourself is needed in every room, and I definitely think that this cozy corner might be it in this kitchen.

3.
There are many things that I enjoy about this photo by @the_village_farmhouse. The Antique painting, the small gathering of kitchen items, and of course, that petticoat shade above the sink. This also is a great photo to refer back to if you are thinking about using silver hardware against white cabinets!

4.
I love that @and.studio.interiors decided to place 3 lampshades above this kitchen island. The peek into this kitchen space is so cozy.

5.
I really enjoy this quieter space that @whiteflowerfarmhouse features a petticoat shade at the forefront. No matter where you decided to place your lamp shade, it adds another layer of daintiness and the perfect amount of detail.

What is one home decor trend you are secretly hoping makes a comeback?I would love to hear on Facebook or Instagram. I hope these petticoat shade images inspire you like they did for me. Thanks for stopping by the blog today and every day!
