If you are anything like me…
the winter weather loves to dry out your skin,
including your lips.
& sometimes chapstick just doesn’t cut it
when your lips are dried & cracked.
I went to purchase some lip exfoliators the
other day at Sephora & was a little taken back
by the high prices. Don’t get me wrong,
I’m sure they are great products,
but I knew I could make some of my own for
a lot less!
After some research & inspiration I came
up with this little recipe for your own
DIY lip exfoliator/moisturizer…
With these simple ingredients pictured above you can make
the perfect lip exfoliator for kissable lips.
Here is what you will need…
1. Olive oil { contains natural moisturizers}
2. Vaseline {I chose coco butter, another great moisturizer}
3. Chapstick { I chose Cherry flavored with spf}
4. Sugar {I chose regular granulated sugar}
5. An empty container {Mine is a MAC concealer that was empty}
6. Almond Oil {Not pictured}
Mix the vaseline & a cut piece off of the chapstick in the
container. There are no exact measurements for
any of this. Just eyeball the ingredients & add more or
less to get the right consistency.
At this point you can add your olive oil to the mix.
I added almond oil as well, just because I am in love with it
& it is an amazing moisturizer, but it’s not necessary.
Mix the oils in with the vaseline & chapstick until it’s a very
thick & creamy consistency.
Next add the sugar for the exfoliating ingrediant in the mix.
I added half a tsp, but you can add more or less
depending how big of batch you made.
Mix it all together until you are satisfied with how it looks
& feels.
& there you have it! Your very own lip exfoliator.
How to use the lip scrub…
I get a tiny amount on my finger & rub it on to my top & bottom
lips, I leave it on for a few seconds & then wipe it off with a towel.
Your lips should feel baby smooth & appear more plump
due to more blood flow in your lips.
After I wipe it off, I then apply a thin layer of chapstick
too keep my lips moisturized & you are done!
Enjoy your lip exfoliator & let me know if you try it!!
Also if you have any DIY lip exfoliator recipes or ways
too keep your lips soft & moisturized… share them
