A few weeks ago during a trip to TJ Maxx I stumbled upon some place mats that I couldn’t pass up. I never actually look in the placemat & tablecloth section, but this day I happened to walk by and see this striped natural fiber fabric & for only $5 for a pack of 4 place mats, they were mine! I knew right away that I would make a couple cute pillows easily with them using iron-on adhesive & that is what happened. I have not decided on a permanent home for the two little baby pillows yet, but they look pretty nice in our living room for now.
To make the placemat pillows I simply placed the “no-sew heat bonding tape” between the two place mats and followed the directions on the heat bonding tape. You can find it at your local craft store, walmart, & many other places. I ironed around the edges to activated the bonding tape, leaving one side open so I would be able to stuff the pillow with poly-fil that I also bought at my local craft store. Once the pillow was stuff I placed the heat bonding tape on the fourth side and ironed it to seal the pillow. Such a simple & cheap way to get some accent pillows for your home!
What do you think of my new placemat pillows? Have you made placemat pillows before? I would love to hear about them. & since I’m still on vacation in Michigan be sure to follow me on Instagram & Facebook for updates on my trip! I hope that you all had a great weekend & that you have an amazing week!
