As many of you know we are giving our bedroom a “make-under”. It’s kind of like a makeover, but different. The reason for this make-under is that we will be selling our house soon & we felt like our bedroom before was too taste specific. We wanted to tone down the bedroom & really make it a neutral relaxing bedroom space that would be appealing to potential buyers. Step one of our bedroom makeover was emptying out the room {You can see the details about that post here} The second step to the room makeover is creating a new & very simple headboard for the room after we removed our wood plank headboard.
Here is our wood plank headboard before we took it down…
We loved the DIY pallet headboard while we had it, but like all good things, it had to come to an end. The headboard was actually really simple to take down & just required a drill to take the screws out. To patch all of the holes we used 3M Patch Plus Primer the product made it really simple to patch the holes & prime all in one.
Here is the room all emptied out with the walls patched & ready for paint. It’s really scary how bare the room is, but this is just step one of the room makeover so it will get better. Promise. Now all we needed was paint & our new headboard.
To paint the wall over the patched holes from our pallet headboard we first laid down our 3m drop cloth, taped off the trim with ScotchBlue? Painter’s Tape & got to painting. So thankful for help from the best DIY loving husband in the world! {That’s me sucking up if you are reading this right now babe! 😉 } The color on the walls is called Dover white by Sherwin Williams. To see the full tutorial on everything & all the products we used see the video below.
& There it is! Our simple upholstered headboard & the wall freshly patched & painted. We still do not have our bedding in, so for now we are using what we have. This is part one of our bedroom makeover so things are looking pretty boring around here & I can’t wait to put some life back in this space. I think the headboard is the perfect beginning to our bedroom makeover & I’m in love with the lovely touch of simplicity it already ads to the space.
