Do you ever find random things & you think you NEED them even though they are kind of odd, but deep down you think… I can make something with that. I can’t be the only one. I went to a sale the other day & saw this random food truck screen, & thought… I have to have that. haha I bet no one else said that at that sale, but it caught my eye & I knew I could do something with it. My first thought was to use it as some sort of frame for prints that I had, & that’s what I experimented with when I brought it home. Here is my DIY screen art for my first DIY trial run with my new find…
Making this screen art was literally the easiest thing I have ever done & the food truck screen really just spoke for itself. I got these prints off of Graphic Fairy’s website & had them printed at Fed Ex. They are so nice there that I go every time I need something. Anyways, I used oversized safety pins to pin the prints on the screen [I believe I found them at Michaels] & that’s it. So awesome because you can easily change out the art whenever you want. I had it up here on our card catalog in our living room temporarily setting there on some books, but I think hanging it would be best, just not sure where yet.
The screen before was awesome & there are so many possibilities for this piece.. & I just love the old green paint! I’m drawn to it! & the pins were a choice just because I had those lying around, I’m sure there were other options, but use what you have that’s what my momma always said. Or something like that. I just like how it turned out & how an old food truck screen is now art in our home…
I love our new pillow from House of Belonging too, I think it’s a nice pop in the space & who doesn’t love that saying & that beautiful font?! Up-cycling is so much fun! This is proof of it. What do you think of my DIY screen art? What would you use the screen for? Let me know in the comments below what you think & find me on Instagram, & chat with me on Facebook. xx
This is so cool! I’ve done that same thing of snatching something up that others would sooner pass on. I love the way you’ve used it, too. I honestly can’t think of a different way than displaying beautiful art.
this looks great. glad to see another crock hoarder on the loose. i use a smaller version of a window screen to hang my earrings on. love that this was once on a food truck, and the colour is perfect for this time of the year.
Ok, this is just darling! I need to start collecting some crocks! Using those decorative safety pins was genius. I love this whole vignette. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love this – and the green color is perfect. Could be cute used in an office for pinning, notes, inspiration, etc. Great find!
I’m loving the simplicity of this piece! I would have never thought to use screen as a background with these gorgeous art prints. I’m kicking myself for getting rid of my old screen door just last week now! Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
