This week at the shop was a fun week for many reasons. Our little store, The Found Cottage, is happily & sadly quite full with not much room for other artisans in our area right now, but this week we welcomed a new vendor who brought in her amazing happy paintings & she brightened our little shop right up. I’ve known Mary for a while & have always been a fan of her art & now I can proudly say that she not only has her art in our store here in Michigan, but I also have a piece of her art in our home now…
You all know that our farmhouse is under construction, but when I took this piece home, I had to put it somewhere for the time being. So, I chose to hang it in our sliding door living room for now above my craft cabinet in a temporary location. I have always had a thing for barns so this painting jumped right out at me when she brought it into the store & I knew it had to be mine. To me barns are beautiful works of art on their own, so to have a painting of one in our home is so cool. This is my second barn painting now as I have one from Deann Art as well & now I’m sitting here pondering… Do I collect barn paintings now? The funny thing is that when I got my first barn painting it was only a dream & now we have our dream barn when I got my second barn painting from Mary.
The painting is on a wonderful solid piece of old barn wood which makes it super special & the detail in her painting is my favorite thing to look at. So much texture & detail. I wish you could all see it in person! Lucky for my local friends that you can stop in our shop & see the paintings she brings in to the shop, & for my not so local friends you can check out her Facebook & Instagram to purchase her lovely works of art. The amount of talent that comes through our little shops doors amazes me & humbles me. I think my favorite part about being a shop owner is supporting local artists & cheering them on through their creative journeys. Meeting Mary & seeing her passion for art is for sure something worth cheering on.
I hope you guys liked seeing the newest piece of art in our farmhouse & again, hanging this in our living room has made me even more excited to start re-doing this room.. it’s going to be a fun one! For now it’s not looking half bad & this painting made it look even better. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today & for following along with our farmhouse journey… we are so thankful for you! Be sure to show Mary DeMaagd Artist some love & also to follow the behind the scenes of the blog over on Facebook & Instagram. xx
Hi, I have an Ikea Ektorp sofa chair. You say you wash and dry the cover. When you say dry to 80% – do you mean in the dryer? The care instructions say do not put in dryer – so just wondering. Thanks! S.
beautiful! She is very talented!
