Today it feels like we finally made a ton of progress in the kitchen. You know, the one we have been working on since February. The floors were finally laid today and it was a huge step in completing the kitchen and sunroom area. We went with the same 8 inch pine planks that we got from West Michigan Lumber here local to us. & the same ones we went with in our dining room and front living room and this is with the progress looks like…
Here is a little glimpse into what it looked like recently…
What a difference already!! If you guys of been following along with our kitchen renovation you know that recently we had all the windows replaced the cabin the new cabinets are in here and the flooring was one of the last big steps before completing the kitchen. Of course now they still have to be stained which is a big job but we will have to wait to stain them until they settle and dark in a little bit just like the floors in the dining room in the front living room had to as well. We have just started staining the floors in the front living room and the dining room so in a couple weeks we will be able to stain the floors in this space.
We still need a sink, countertops, appliances, furniture, decor, and all the little details like lighting, hardware, faucets, and a few doors. But we have floors and that is all that matters. The room already looks 1000 times better and it actually looks like it’s not a construction zone anymore. What do you think of the room so far? Doesn’t the new flooring make it look like a whole new space? Let me know what you think in the comments below, find me on Facebook, and chat with me on Instagram.
Come see how the outside of the sunroom looks [HERE]
love everything about it! my husband is on vac this week and was suppose to go get material to do our ship lap in sunroom this is at back of our house too,,the difference is we have a door and a large pretty window, both we make take off to open the 2 up more. at time we moved in i almost opened it all then i decided to fit my must haves, a dry sink and a old hoosier hutch, i think i wrote about it before, lol so it rained today and he didn’t want to get boards wet. maybe thur he will get the materials,.,,we i believe are going with plywood or mdf..i know he said he will have to rip down boards,,i think 8 in wide planks..ive been trying figure out what you used and size of planks, lol i love your house so much,.. we will put shiplap , not real shiplap but look a like in sunroom and also on a fireplace, in kitchen prob just wall on fp is on, that whole wall,,,but if i could ever talk him into doing the whole rm i would love it….we designed and built it 10 yrs ago…yes sad, lol my sunroom not yet done. we still have much to do inside and out but that is only room that is not able to use,,its got things stored in it,,sad…..the good thing is that my husband can do all things build wise. he has built homes for years so it was great designing own home.. i did have one person try talk me out of having walls where most are tearing down but i wanted places to hang things lol…it’s still semi open and a 2 way fireplace makes it feel open with 2 large doorways on each side..i so love your floors. oh i forgot, there is another room, pantry not finished so its junk room till we ever finish it,,,lol…i love your island.. i love that you have stained island and kitchen so nice. i almost went with a stained island since my husband loves stained wood, but then just ended up all white cabinets…someday my island legs will hopefully get painted too..lol
It looks amazing ! What a wonderfull space to cook and live in. I love everything about it, floor, windows, and the light that comes in, the cabinets…❤️
It’s looking beautiful! It has to feel so good to have it this far!
The floors look amazing. The island is so cute.
These floors look amazing! Congratulations on the progress.
I’m curious why you chose the floors you did for the kitchen? Were you looking to keep consistency throughout the house? Do you prefere wood floors in kitchens over tile?
