Ok, I was being that annoying person two weeks ago that was making tons of updates in our house & telling you that it was for “something exciting that I can’t share yet.” Yah, that was annoying & I’m so sorry that I was being that person. Well, now you know. If you have been following along with our blog, you know we moved into our 1800’s farmhouse fixer upper a year ago & we have been slowly working on renovations. We have about 50 more years of projects to do & we aren’t even 1/8th of the way done with even the demo, but we had to quickly make a few parts of our house “photo ready” for the magazine shoot which included our front living room. We went ham on our house getting ready for Better Homes & Gardens to come to our house. No room in our entire house is still even close to “done” but some of it looks better in photos now. I shared some sneak peeks on my Instagram when we were working, but I wanted to share a bunch of updates here on the blog today with you.
One big thing we did was move the big pine cabinet out of the room [into our master bedroom] & moved a beautiful lead glass window white buffet in it’s spot. I had been eyeing this piece for so long & finally pulled the trigger because I knew the big cabinet had to go before the big photoshoot. You guys know we move furniture around all the time, but this one will be staying with me for the long hall. I also added this clock that we got from our shop, The Found Cottage. I plan on filling this cabinet with some of my chippy white antique finds & other treasures. That basket? An antique find that was also from our shop. Have I ever mentioned what a problem it is owning an adorable store filled with fun things?!
I don’t even think I ever talked about these two windows that we hung on this wall yet.. what kind of blogger am I? We hung these windows on each side of the pine cabinet a while back, but when we switched out the pine cabinet for this white one they still fit perfectly. We picked up these olive trees from Home Goods & when we got them they were a few feet taller & all we did was take them apart and cut the [trunk?] down a little. I love the pop of cottage greens they add to this space. Also, the fact that they were half off original price really helps as well.
We moved in this deconstructed sofa in front of the fireplace & moved the two chairs from in front of the fireplace in front of our large white locker cabinet that is on the opposite side of the wall from the new white lead glass buffet.. are you keeping up still? We also moved a deconstructed chair into the corner of this room near the fireplace & I have to say I’m obsessed with all the texture these deconstructed pieces add to our home.. & yes, they are comfy to sit on as well!
We hung wall sconces on either side of the fireplace on our antique windows that were hanging there. I LOVED this change most of all because this room is so so so dark so more light is always a good thing. One day I hope to have windows on each side of the fireplace, but until then.. this will for sure do. Over the fireplace we also hung some new [very old] architectural salvage pieces for some added interest to the spot.
Ok, I think we’ve done more than I listed, but for now… let’s leave it at that. We did a lot more including stained the floors, added baskets to all of the fireplace shelves, decorated a few new spots & a lot more. I’ll be back asap with a more specific update post on this room, but I wanted to get you guys up to date on this space… what do you think of all the changes? Crazy how different this room looks like now huh? I hope you guys enjoyed this update & I want to say THANK YOU so much for stopping by my little blog today.. it honestly means so much! Thank you! Be sure to follow me on Instagram & Facebook for more behind the scenes. xx
I want to marry your pair of olive trees! All those windows are so beautiful! We need some! 😉

You are so gosh darn gifted! ? I love your changes!
Loved the room before and I love it even better now! Change is fun and good. Love the new buffet with the lead glass windows. You gave me an idea for having my husband make something. Your room is fabulaous! So much texture and interest and I love vintage and antiques mixed with modern! Congrats on the Better Homes and Gardens shoot! Can’t wait to see the issue! You are amazingly talented!
Looks amazing, you just keep changing it until you like it and it will be over before you know it, will maybe not i’m 68 and still like to change things ha ha!
Where did you ever find those crocks that hold the olive trees? I just love them.
Where did you get the fabric lined wire baskets in the piece beside the fireplace. I bet you have a link somewhere but I can’t find it! The room looks beautiful!
Where did you get your cream rug? I love it!
love
I like your living room. You mentioned many changes… I wish you’d included a before, because I love to see the differences and then read the stories behind a transformation. Now I will have to click around your blog more to find more inspiration for our new house.
I also would like to know where you go that rug, I’m wanting something the exact same shade
