This weekend I had such a huge honor to go visit Joy from SavvyCityFarmer in Dundee Illinois which is about 3 1/2 hours from our house here in Michigan… it all started a few weeks ago when she posted a photo of a beautiful rolling rack on Instagram and I Passively said something like “oh wow I need that!” Not knowing it was for sale & who knew that would lead to her messaging me that it was for sale and the price… I was shocked! Then came me having to measure the spot for it, finding a day that worked for both of us to pick-up, and convince Jose to take a road trip with me. Thankfully it was the perfect size and Jose is always down to go on a road trip. We made plans last week to drive down to Illinois to pick up the piece and thankfully I was coming the day after one of her in-home sales so I could shop all of her other amazing items as well. The only thing that we didn’t plan for? The snow storm. It was a pretty rough drive on the way there, but when we arrived in Illinois the sun came out & we had the best time…
When we first got to Joy‘s house I was in shock from the outside to the inside it’s one of the most charming homes I’ve ever seen. It was so welcoming and cozy from the get-go and every inch was just filled with something beautiful from conversation pieces to antiques to cozy textures and pieces that I, quite frankly, wanted to put in my purse and take home with me. My iPhone photos do not do her house justice, but I hope you get the idea of how lovely her home was. Thankfully a lot of the items in her home were for sale because she had the home sale the day before, and I was able to shop her house which was a dream come true. I’ll do a whole haul of those items soon for you guys but you can see some of the items for sale at our house and how awesome they were in the photos.
She gave us a little tour of her house and some of my favorite parts were the concrete kitchen sink and the concrete kitchen counters also the fact that her adorable laundry room was right off the kitchen and was a beautiful focal point unlike our laundry room at the moment. Every inch of her home is filled with something with a story & I found myself gasping at every turn. Her and her husband were so accommodating and it was so fun to Hang out with an Instagram friend and actually see their house in person it’s not every day that you get to do that.
After we hung out at their house for a while, shopping, talking, and taking some photos of their beautiful home she took us to the cutest shop that was right around the corner from her house downtown West Dundee called Midwest Retro Cool Stuff… if you are in that area it’s a must see! I found so many treasures at both Joy’s house & that cute little shop & I will do an entire haul for you very soon & show the pieces in our house. But for now I just wanted to share with you a little glimpse into Joy’s beautiful home.
Do you guys remember my little series I used to do more of before we moved to the farm called “LMB Loves Houses”? This is what it was… showing you glimpses into other peoples homes… I think we need to bring that series back. Ok, well we finally made it home after that long 4 hour drive & I’m exhausted, but I hope you liked this post & as always, THANK YOU for stopping by the blog today! Be sure to go & show Joy some love because she is one of the sassiest, sweetest, most talented woman I have ever met & I know you will just love her to! You can find her website [HERE] & also shop her beautiful found items! Be sure to follow me on Instagram & Facebook for more behind the scenes & to check out her home tour in my stories! xx

Amazing house! I love the blue scale in the laundry area. I vote for bringing back the LMB Loves Houses idea. I’m always looking for great ideas from people who are super creative like you!!
Bring back LMB loves house ……I vote for that!!! Thanks, Liz and Jose, for sharing such a beautiful and inspirational home on your road trip.
I’m lucky enough to live near Joy. I also found her on Instagram and we’ve become friends. I have many pieces of “Joy” in my home @livinglargeinasmallhouse. She’s the best ❤️
We are blessed to call Joy (and Don!) some of our dearest and best-loved friends. Your photos got us homesick for another visit out there and since we’re just around the proverbial corner from The Found Cottage, it is also just a 3.5-hour trip!
Thank you, Lizzie for sharing your memories of your day trip to the burbs!

I had the pleasure of meeting Joy and her hubby, when I lived in WI. She is as real as it gets, I started out following her on periscope. I think that’s how I found out about you Liz. It was dreamy hearing about your trip, and seeing how over joyed Savycityfarmer Joy was. Thank you for sharing?

I need to follow her! We’re any IG her Dundee crocks for sale? Was that a wooden rolling bakers rack? I love those but wouldn’t ghave a place for it. Can’t wait to see what you bought!
