Ok, this week has been pretty weird. I was looking at my blog bio on my sidebar & it said “I’m a twenty something year old…” Not for long!! Your girl is saying goodbye to her 20’s this coming weekend & that is so strange to say!! Saying goodbye to your 20’s is weird. I think saying goodbye to any decade is weird, but for me saying goodbye to my teens 10 years ago was magical because I was excited to “grow up”, but now I’m wishing time would pause. This week building up to my 30th birthday on Sunday I’ve been reflecting on all of the things. One of the items I’ve really reflected on this week is my skincare & makeup as I’ve already seen changes in my skin as I approached 30 both good and bad. The good? I hardly ever get blemishes anymore like I did in my early 20’s, but of course I have noticed those lines and pores being a little larger these days & more noticeable. As you age, you just notice some changes & though I’m not stressed over them & I am embracing all of the changes, but also realizing what is good for my skin at this age. I’ve really tweaked my makeup routine lately to fit my 30 year old skin & I’ve been loving the simple glowing youthfulness it adds without being heavy or too much.. if that’s a thing. Basically these are the makeup items I’ve been loving lately although I don’t use all of them everyday all together I do love each of them & I didn’t want to keep it to myself because it’s been really good to me so I hope these help you as well….
First: My skin is oily/combo with a few little dry spots once in a while on my nose. I also used to suffer from horrible breakouts & even though now my skin is better and has no blemishes, all of these things did not make me breakout when I was struggling. That’s a win in my book! My skin is definitely not as oily or acne prone as it used to be in my earlier 20’s, but let’s just say my skin isn’t normal or dry….
Lotion: Every good makeup routine starts with a great skincare routine. I can share that with you some time as well, but for now I will share the lotion I use in the morning before applying my makeup. I love all things Mario Bedescu & they have been so great for my skin. I love this simple oil-free moisturizer with spf 30 & it really helps prep my skin for my makeup & doesn’t make me oily at all.
Primer: I love this lorac primer! It fills in all of my pores & makes my foundation go on so smoothly. It also makes my foundation last all day. I also love the skin to die for primer which I just started using which is great for my skin type & to get that matte healthy glow I want.
Foundation: I NEVER thought this would be my favorite foundation, but it has proven to be my favorite as of late. I used to be someone that only wanted foundations with “matte” in the title, but this naked skin foundation gives me enough coverage, but literally feels like I’m wearing nothing & let’s the good skin show through. It’s also buildable coverage for those bad skin days. It let’s me have a youthful glow without getting shiny & it lasts all day. I apply my foundation with a damp beauty blender which blends out the foundation so well for a natural finish with no streaks or lines. I would never apply any foundation any other way!
Concealer: I don’t always conceal, but sometimes I don’t get a lot of sleep so covering up those under-eye circles is a must. I LOVE Tarte tape shape concealer & it will literally hide it all. I apply this with a damp beauty blender just like I do my foundation.
Under-eye setting powder: Again, this isn’t an everyday thing, but only on special occasions or when needed. Setting under eye concealer is pretty important if you wear it & for that I am obsessed with the laura mercier brightening powder as it truly brightens up the area to hide those under eye circles while not settling into any fine lines or wrinkles. Your concealer will not move & you will instantly look awake with this stuff. You guys will love this powder promise!
Powder: I have a few favorite powders. I really like setting my foundation with a big fluffy brush and powder to make it last all day. I love the Lorac powder, the It Cosmetics powder, & the Lancome 24 hour powder… they are all amazing, give great coverage even on their own, & do not make me look “powdery” at all which is a huge plus. Best thing? they do not make me breakout. I highly recommend all of these & I would look into each of them & their color range for your skin.
Bronzer: Bronzer is a must! I like using a matte bronzer to accent my cheekbones a little. I am obsessed with two and interchange them daily. I love the Tarte Waterproof bronzer & Too Faced matte bronzer. They are both not orange, last all day, matte, & blend well to look natural. These bronzers also work great for contouring if you are into that kind of thing.
Blush: I’m not really a blush girl, but I LOVE to add some shimmery bronzer to the apples of my cheeks. I am obsessed with the Bare Minerals bronzers because as advertised, they give you the “glow from within” look which is basically a natural glow which helps you look radiant, awake, & youthful.
Eyeliner: I love brown eyeliner.. super simple on the top.. nothing fancy. But I like it to last all day so this Estee lauder eye liner is goals! Lasts all day, goes on smoothy without tugging on my eye to cause more wrinkles, & is easy to sharpen.
Brows: I like to fill my brows in with a my Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz pencil. It’s so thin so it makes natural hair strokes & again goes on smoothly so it’s not tugging at your eyebrow hairs. It also lasts all day which is a bonus.. no one wants to lose an eyebrow halfway through the day.
Mascara: I’ve tried every single mascara… every single one. I love a few of them, but I love this one right now from It Cosmetics. It doesn’t shed, plumps my lashes, makes me look awake, & I can use it on my top & bottom lashes.
Lipstick: I have never been a mac lipstick girl or a lipstick girl in general, but Mac matte lipstick in honey love is the best shade ever! It looks natural, gives your lips and face a “finished look” and it lasts so long! I would highly recommend this lipstick to anyone.
Setting Spray: I don’t always do this, but it’s really nice to help set all of your makeup, make sure there is no powdery finish, & also give more of a finished glow to everything. I love the urban decay all nighter spray to set it all in place & it truly helps everything last “all night” or day for us 30 year olds haha.
That is it guys. I hope this helps for you guys looking for new makeup items & that it helps some of you out there in some way. I listed them in the way that I wear them & you guys can shop the items below by clicking on the images… Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today!! xx
Thanks for sharing! But can you please repeat the name of the face cream that you use?
The one she shared on Instagram stories a while back? ITCosmetics Confidence In a Cream. I just bought some last week and love it so far!
Any of the cosmetics cruelty free? Thanks.
Love al the products. Definitely have to try a few.
No eye shadow? I love how your lashes look lately. What’s the trick? I HAVE to wear concealer because I have super bad dark circles under my eyes. Literally, I am a raccoon with no make up. It’s no Joke! I remember one time I tried putting the peach color concealer and then I looked at myself in the mirrors and my entire face was red ? I will stick to natural color concealer for the rest of my life. .
Tanks!
