We are closing in on one year with our Smeg small appliances, and I felt like this was a perfect time for a quick review to be mixed in with a little gift guide and where to buy. Are you ready??? So Jose bought me my very first Smeg appliances last year for Christmas. I cannot tell you how long I have been wanting a Smeg appliance, but it finally happened the day before Christmas (because we are impatient) and He got me the [This post contains affiliate links] Smeg Toaster AND Smeg Kettle…
As an interior designer, I love being able to make the home pretty throughout the entire day. From the morning we wake up and make coffee to cutely stacking the decorative pillows next to the bed as we get ready to go to sleep. Our old toaster, I mean the toaster we were gifted when we got married, did a wonder on some bread, but I could not help but feel the need to hide the little guy right after we were done using it… It wasn’t a need by any means, so we held off on transitioning our older small appliances over to something I like to call counter pretty.
When we were ready to start swapping out, I wanted to make a conscience effort to invest into one or two brands. I wanted to do this because too often you see that different brands have different variations of the same color, even the stainless steels can be impossible to match across different companies. On top of color, design elements like the curves or button layout can change a kitchen from retro to farmhouse to modern. Now, this is a bit of a risk given I had my eye set on Smeg. Their signature retro style could easily be a very quick trend, but after two years, and still being obsessed-that was the brand I set my mind too. Now, we still ease into this transition with one or two items, until we felt we enjoyed them we could fully dive in.
The Kettle and Toaster not only fit our aesthetic beautifully, we love them. I use the kettle religiously, especially at night. I am a serious tea drinker, for green and organic, to lavender and chamomile. I love my tea and I love having a kettle to cut down the time and keep me from having to fire up the stovetop. Jose’s favorite way to make coffee is with a Chemex. Now, we’ve gone back to the transitional coffee pot, but when we get a little extra time throughout the day, he’s playing with that Chemed. We have the cream two slot toaster. In the world of toasters, I would say it does everything any other toaster does, but looks pretty doing it. Our last, life long toaster, was a two slot toaster, so we don’t know any different, but Smeg also makes a four slot toaster, that sounds even more amazing. Side note… While we were on Ebay today, we came across this guy!
Umm… why hasn’t this been in my life! It is called the Sandwich rack, and you can put a sandwich in a basket before dropping it into the toaster. Am I the last person to find out about this? It’s genius!
So back to the very quick review!
Since being gifted the Smeg Kettle and Smeg Toaster, we went on to buy a Smeg Refigerator and recently a Smeg Stand Mixer. Jose and I want to get into the kitchen more than what we have, and outside of just making more meals at home, we want to start diving into our own gluten free breads and deserts… One of our favorite-favorite lunch spots ever closed last month, and they had the most amazing homemade gluten free bread, so we are on the hunt to make our own.
We purchased the newest member of our Smeg family, the Stand Mixer, from Ebay. We were very surprised to find that Ebay had the best prices for most of the Smeg appliances and other kitchen appliances brands than that of brick and mortar and online retailers. Smeg doesn’t make everything we need right now so we do have some other appliances, and after finding out that Ebay had some great prices one small appliances, I wanted to throw together a quick little small appliance gift guide that include a lot of the appliances we currently have, and a few I have on my wish list…
We can officially say that it is the holiday season, and any extra deal or better price always helps. I hope that this list helps you find a good price on an item you were already interested, or gives you some ideas for those who are in need of some fresh new small appliances for the kitchen. Thank you-thank you for stopping by the blog today and everyday. If you have any more questions about our Smeg appliances please leave me a comment or email and I hope you have a great Thanksgiving week. xx
ps… I worked with Ebay on this post, but as always all opinions are of my own!

I love the looks of these little appliances, but I haaaate the name and hate that it’s so splashed out across all of their products. I wish they would make their name smaller and less obnoxious. As is, I won’t buy them, which is sad because the colors and shapes they offer are so beautiful.
Ooooh I’m with Jose on the Chemex! Love my Chemex brew, while my husband insists on his plunger. You know that the Chemex reduces the amount of cholesterol-causing substances in your coffee?
