Growing up I can say that my Grandma was my biggest influence when it comes to interior design. Before Pinterest, blogs, and farmhouse style, my Grandma was living it. My grandfather and she bought an old farmhouse, painted the kitchen cabinets, put down new hardwood flooring, DIY’s in every little corner; she perfected all of today’s trends, 40 years ago.
Inspired by my Grandmother
I’ve driven by that farmhouse a few times, but all my memories with her were at a newer home in the suburbs. As much as I wish I could go back in time with her, and watch her brain work, I cherish the little influences she has pushed down on to me without even knowing. I have started a lot of collections and hobbies because of my Grandma… from my button collection to painted furniture, and luxurious bathroom soaps. I can always remember going into the guest bathroom at my grandma’s to find a new and unique soap, hand cream, or perfume that she found trekking through downtown or on her last trip down to Florida for the winter. She had a story to tell, from how it was made or where she purchased it… I loved these stories and always told myself I would do the same when I have guests over to our home.
Incoming Guests
With incoming guests for Thanksgiving, I wanted to follow in my Grandmother’s footsteps and display a few nice elegant bathroom sets to make them feel like they are staying at The Grand Hotel, and not our fixer-upper farmhouse. Even though it’s only our parents staying overnight and family coming over for dinner, it’s fun to think they are our AirBnB guests.
An Extra Cozy Touch
Outside of having them on hand and ready for the next set of overnight guests, luxury sets like these from L’Occitane make a great gift for anyone that enjoys hosting or supports sustainable sourcing. Not only is it elegant, but it is also a great alternative to some of the more mainstream soap, lotion, and fragrance sets we all buy over the holidays.
Beautiful and Sustainable
This is my first time using L’Occitane products, but outside of the beautiful packaging, they stand behind some incredible commitments of sustainability when creating their products.
From the lavender fields to the Almond tree, to the Immortelle fields in Corsica, L’Occitane cherishes nature and treats it with respect and I love the idea of continued hope for a sustainable future. This really hit home now knowing how quickly a region of our environment can disappear after seeing the devastation of the California fires over the last week. L’Occitane has protected 150 varieties of plants and continues to focus on preserving even more landscapes.
My Current Sets
Fragrant Lavender Collection
There are many L’Occitane gift sets to choose from, we currently have two sets displayed in our home. The first Gift Set is the Fragrant Lavender Collection. In an attempt to maximize every aspect of cozy for anyone that walks into our home… Cozy and Lavender go hand in hand, am I right? The God-given plant of relaxation is the perfect ingredient for any guest bathroom or bedroom.
Almond Collection by Castelbajac Paris
The second set is the Almond Collection by Castelbajac Paris (say that three times fast). The Almond Collection not only does a great job with the soap and hand creams, but it fits beautifully in with the way we have this bathroom currently styled. Like I said, there are so many different options to choose from, they even have a for him section, and I love the packaging of the Cade Collection. We can go for hours on fun little ways win with the little details, but providing both feminine and masculine products in a bathroom are great ways to make everyone feel welcome in your home. And honestly, right now, I am obsessed with the masculine scents.
Is it weird to say that I’m proud that I’m following in my grandmas footsteps with her fancy soap collections and I’m excited for my guests to be able to pamper themselves this holiday season when they visit us. I’m also thrilled that I now know what I’m gifting some of my loved ones for Christmas this year… I know I would be thrilled to have the L’Occitane gift boxes under my tree! You can see some of their gift boxes below & click them to see them in full detail! Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today & every single day to see what we are up to! xx
Liz, do you have a source for sink?
My husband walked behind me reading your blog and said that sink is a must! LOL
Thank you
I’m looking for large bottle brush trees such as you gave pictured with soaps and houses. Do you have a source for them?
I like the way of explanation. Such a great work.
