I think the number one question I get lately is, “What is that paint color on the wall?” whenever I post about any room in our new home. So I wanted to do a post today sharing the first two colors in our rental. I love these two colors. We really got lucky that our rental already had some lovely paint colors on the walls & I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great neutral or a lovely navy. Here are the first two of our rental paint colors…
Well, it’s been a little more complicated than that. Since it’s a rental & I didn’t choose the colors or paint the walls I was left to dig through old paint cans in our 1800’s basement. You are welcome. Oh, & it doesn’t stop there. After finding the cans of paint & the color that was on the walls through out the majority of the home I realized it didn’t have a name on the can. Of course. I called Valspar & they said the code wasn’t a color & must have been a custom mix. So, what’s a girl to do? Bring the can to Lowe’s & compare every neutral paint sample to the can and your walls & find the perfect match. Well, I’m happy to say I found it! The color is an exact match to Valspar’s Milestone. The photos I took has a lot of natural light in them, but holding the sample up to the wall it’s a perfect match. This color is in most of the house like the upstairs guest bathroom, guest bedroom, sitting room, dining room, daybed room, & more.
This color was easier to find because the can was actually labeled. Win! I have not revealed the entire office on the blog yet, but I wanted to share the lovely navy color with you guys. I love that it’s not to dark & bold, but you still get the perfect navy touch. This room has two large windows so it gets a lot of natural light which is perfect for this darker color.
I will be back later with more paint colors in the home & of course more of the tour. I know you didn’t paint this room yourself but do you have any idea if the Relaxed Navy was lightened at all? It is so much lighter in your pictures than the sample I have on my wall or other pictures I have seen. I love your color though and want my walls to look like that. I know sometimes you can do like 50% or 75% pigment on a paint color so I didn’t know if this was done. I would really appreciate the help!
Great work, Liz. Really nice job. I enjoy your ideas in a every day basis.
I am thinking of giving my rental MDF light brown kitchen cabinets a makover and I am thinking on going with the farmhouse white. The thing is that, my kichen does not have a natural light. It’s really dark and fortunately, it just steals some light from my (super light) living room.
Which white would you suggest? I am not really a fun of the extra white. I like a kind of a “broken” white, but I am not an expert, so I would really appreciate your tips.
