How To Get People To Read Your Blog

Okay. I am not a blog expert. Really, I’m not. I blogged about How to start a blog & ever since I have got a LOT of questions on how to get people to read your blog. To be honest I come here to share what I am up to with my DIY & home decor passions & to my surprise & amazement people stop by my lovely little blog to read about it & I’m SO grateful! I know that it can be a big struggle to feel like no one is seeing your blog posts so I wanted to share with you 5 tips on how to get people to read your blog. They are super simple tips that can help your blog grow & let people see those awesome posts you work so hard on!

1. Quality Content.

Content is key. Quality content is the number one thing to make people want to read your blog. Provide your readers with valuable information that will help them connect with you and your blog. No matter what you blog about, creating quality content that is informative, interesting, & valuable to your readers is step one of bringing people to your website. Along with content, be sure you are posting regularly. You do not have to post daily, but create a schedule so your readers become accustom to the way your blog works & how often you post & they will come back to check for new content from you. Keep it interesting, fun, & relevant.

2. Get featured.

This takes time & is a very broad category, but it’s quite simple, get featured to get your name out there. Whether you submit your work to certain websites {Craftgawker, Dwellinggawker, exd}, magazines, or blogs & websites that are relevant to what you blog about, get your work out there for others to see. By getting featured you are allowing a bigger audience to see your work & discover your blog. This may take a lot of time, but in the long run it’s worth it. Build relationships with other bloggers, brands, companies, and magazines, to establish yourself in the blogging community that will benefit you and others.

3. SEO.

This one can be complicated if you make it, but let’s keep it simple. Little things like titling your posts to  relevancy of what your post is about, downloading an SEO widget for your blog, re-naming your photos with titles, & using key words can help boost your google referrals to your blog & possibly gain new readers. Parto of SEO also goes back to number one, creating quality content. Google is watching you & Google knows when you are creating valuable content that readers find interesting & useful. Quality content ranks you higher with Google & that’s always a good day as a blogger! Look up SEO tips & tricks, read books, & see what works for your blog when it comes to SEO. It’s all about trial & error.

4. Social Media.

Social media is HUGE! Utilizing social media outlets like Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Google Plus, & Twitter helps you stay in touch with your readers & letting them know when you post new content. Also social media allows you to have a relationship with readers, brands, & other bloggers. Set up social media accounts for your blog & update them often with key content that is relevant to your blog. On that note, be sure to interact & respond to questions & comments from readers as well. 5. Professionalism.

Holding yourself to a high standard of professionalism encourages people to hold you to that same standard. You are a constant advertisement for your blog & everything you do reflects your work. Creating quality content that reflects who you are & what you want your blog to be is the goal you should always set for yourself. By holding yourself to a high standard you make people want to keep returning to your blog & it encourages them to share your blog with others.

Answer comments, respond to readers, write about what you love, offer valuable content, be social, & I could go on & on! I am your biggest cheerleader. I want your blogs to thrive & grow.
