As many of you know one of my favorite pieces of furniture that we have is our antique “card catalog” which is actually a filing cabinet, but either way, it’s the loveliest piece of furniture ever. I wanted to give it a little Christmas decor while it was in our historic rental & I wanted to use what I already had lying around the house. Christmas decorating doesn’t always have to cost a lot or be really complicated. This vignette took me only a few minutes to put together & cost me nothing. That’s the best decor right? Of course I might decorate the card catalog for Christmas in the next few weeks in the Michigan house, but I’m pretty sure it will look totally different than this…
My vision for this piece was a Christmas village. Of course this isn’t a Christmas village, but I wanted it to reflect one in some way. Some faux snow, the decor that was already on the card catalog like the antique fan, & some added snow globes & Christmas trees adds a little whimsical holiday touch to my favorite piece of furniture in the house. I struggled with what art to put above the card catalog & tried a few things like hanging Christmas plates & other things like that, but I finally settled on some simple antique windows. I love decor like this that proves simple can be beautiful!
Okay, maybe I’m bias, but man oh man I love this little {big} piece of furniture. Especially when it has cheerful Christmas decor on it. Now who is taking bets on whether or not this piece makes it in one piece to Michigan? I have faith in our movers & I think I have the perfect spot for it in our new house. Love this!! I’m with you in that simple can be beautiful!
I love this. So cute, indeed!
But I can’t help but wondering what is in the inside of each and every one of the numerous drawers! ^_^ I’d love to see that!
All the best of luck in Your move!

I LOVE this! My boyfriend and I have decided that when we get married, we want to do a library/literary theme. We were in HomeGoods a few weeks ago and spotted the cutest mini card catalogs. Of course we bought them!
