Last week as many of you saw on my Instagram or Facebook I was in LA with Marshalls. I didn’t really explain why, but I’ll tell you briefly today. I went to California to film some lovely videos for Marshalls with 3 other bloggers & it was a really fun experience! It was one of those things that was completely out of my comfort zone & I almost turned it down because I am so awkward, but now that I’m back I’m so happy I did it. I learned a lot & got to experience things that I thought I never would. Would I do it again? Yes! In a heart beat.
This wasn’t just a film a video on a little video camera type thing. Nope, this was filmed at a real set [a rented home in the Valley], a real director, a whole film crew, hair & makeup, stylist, & cameras in your face all day. Legit stuff. It was so fun to have my hair and makeup done by people who have worked on the stars, & to work with a film crew who probably thought I was way too awkward to have on set, but that were so nice & walked me through everything step by step. I’m so excited to see the final outcome & the videos [I will most likely blog them as soon as they come out so no worries]. Today I won’t bore you with too many details of what we did, but I did want to show you the setup I did for my video & share a little bit of my experience in LA. My task was to host an outdoor rustic chic brunch on the patio. I shopped Marshalls for some lovely pieces to use, which wasn’t that hard because I’m always shopping at Marshalls.. I’m basically a pro. I setup a brunch on the patio using a mixture of antique items [that beautiful table & light fixtures] & new items & I think it turned out just perfect. I didn’t take my camera with me on the trip, so I just snapped some photos with my iPhone while on set…
Ahhh So many photos.. I kept snapping away with my iPhone, & trust me there are many more where those came from. Sorry for the photo overload! What do you think of my brunch setup? I love how it fit me exactly, down to every last detail. I want this setup at my house now. Want to come to brunch at my casa? Here are some more photos I took while in LA to give you an idea of what went down. You can see more photos I took on My Instagram [here]. I have to say a huge thank you to the art department on set who helped make this setup all possible for me… I literally lived a dream come working on this brunch set. Again, I need this table & these chairs asap!
Here is the house we shot the videos at. It was such an interesting house located in Tarzana. That hill up to the house was no joke.. walking up and down that could have killed me. But it was a great booty work out!
Getting hair & makeup done by these lovely ladies. You can see more of their work [here] & [here]. These ladies really knew how to make a girl feel good. Don’t mind my awkward selfie photo, but they look cute & they were so kind so I just had to share them!
Our food was served here on the property next to the house with this view. I was not mad about it. Bagels & a view? I’ll take it! LA’s landscape was so interesting & I actually wouldn’t mind going back & exploring more.
While we were filming, we were being watching from all over the house. This is a photo I snapped while another girl was filming. I had to forget that everyone was watching or it would make me so nervous. I mean… comfort zone people! I was out of mine.
The day before I filmed I got to do some Marshalls shopping & put together my items for the video. I then setup my items [these were just a few items I got] to see which ones were favorites. I of course set mine up by the pool at the house, because why not. Don’t you love that we found the chairs that are actually in our Michigan house?! I love that they were included!
Filming my brunch looked a little different huh? Cameras everywhere! I didn’t get many photos of me filming because I was busy doing my thing, but thank you to Peter who helped do my brunch setup for snapping this quick photo of me in action!
This was my brunch outfit. We wanted something light & fresh that fit my style so it was of course cozy. they went for minimal makeup & they tamed my hair so well! I always leave my hair so unruly or in a bun, so this was a big change for me! Croissants anyone?
After a long day of filming, watching this sunset out my hotel window was very welcomed while I kicked my feet up. It was such a great week with lots of new experiences that I will never forget!
I have been telling my husband for so long, you need your own show!!! You are an amazing person!!! God Bless you always!!!
Looks like such an incredible experience! Looking forward to seeing the videos! I agree ^^^ you should have your own show! You’re both admirable & approachable, just like your style! Thanks for all you do!
Big Fan x
What an experience for you! I can’t wait to see the video and would love to know what props you had to work with. That table and chandelier are amazing – were they already on site or did you find them? Your corner vignette is just too cute – I’ve pinned.
How fun! You did a wonderful job. I love everything about this room, the detail on the table legs, the miss matched chairs, the chandeliers, and the screen door chalk board. I’ll be watching for the video, can’t wait to see it.
That must have been such a fun experience! I love your patio set up.
You, dear, are a professional! Your brunch “set-up” was so lovely and very inviting. You didn’t miss a single detail making that room beautiful. I’m so happy you were given such a wonderful opportunity to showcase your many talents. Oh, I must not forget to mention…you looked lovely (you always do) in your pretty hostess dress and you hair and makeup were fabulous. Here’s wishing to many more opportunities to show the world your immense creativity!!
