You guys know we are always making random things around here. One thing I always find myself making is kitchen art. Why? You would think it was for our house, but that would be wrong. We actually have no wall space in our kitchen really so I make it for our booth for other people’s kitchens & that’s fun too. I recently stumbled upon a bunch of antique handmade wooden spoons & forks so I really wanted to make something with them. I made [this] spoon and fork art before & decided to do something similar with these lovely antique wooden utensils as well. I took a couple quick photos in our kitchen just dreaming that I had all of the room in the world for all of the lovely kitchen art.
To make this art I painted the wooden spoons & forks with some white chalk paint. I just dry brushed the wooden utensils, the more imperfect the better. We had a wonderful butcher blog piece of wood that we had purchased a while back that I wasn’t sure I was going to use it for & it was perfect for this project. I attached the forks & spoons to the aged wood with a nail gun & by marrying the two wonderful antique things we created some beautiful & simple spoon and fork art.
So there is my simple fork & spoon art. I just can’t get enough. Maybe some of you are sick of me making kitchen art because I actually don’t have room in our home for it, but I can’t stop. I actually brought this kitchen art to my booth at Painted Farmgirl today hoping it ends up in a happy kitchen somewhere out there. What do you think of my DIY antique spoon & fork art?
